Sir Win Bischoff Will Become Lloyds Chairman

Sir Win Bischoff will become the next chairman of Lloyds, in a move which is set to lead to a shake-up of the stricken state-controlled bank.

Sir Win will assume control in September, hastening the departure of Sir Victor Blank, who had said he could stay on as chairman until Lloyds’ annual shareholder meeting next year.

Sir Victor agreed to step down in an attempt to appease shareholders’ fury at Lloyds’ shot-gun deal to buy HBOS last year when it was teetering on the brink of collapse.

Many in the City also want to see the departure of Eric Daniels, Lloyds chief executive who admitted at a Treasury Select Committee hearing in February that the bank did not do as much due diligence on HBOS as it have liked to do.

Sir Win said: "Short-term we face many challenges but, in the longer term, the Group is well positioned to deliver significant benefits to its customers, shareholders, employees and the public."

This man allowed CITI to get into huge difficulties and the old boys network lends him a job at one of the worlds biggest bankrupt banks.

[dream-on mode] Will Sir Victor now be free to tell the world all about That Deal? He could make a fortune out of that story, over and above whatever fortune he's already sitting on.

And when did this announcement happen? Does it have any bearing on Lloyds being today's second best riser in the FTSE 100?

(no, I can't see why this news should cause the shares to rise, but you never know)

its outrageous, one incompetent schiester after another. It seems though it doesn't matter how incompetent one is as long as you belong to the right old boys/girls club - you're guaranteed a place on the gravy train of mediocrity and lots of money
