Ayrshire Takes To The Streets

Recommended Posts

According to Yahoo News 20,000 people have taken to the streets in Ayrshire over the loss of the 900 whiskey jobs.

Can't find it on BBC or Sky though.

Where's Hamish?

But .. but ... Ayrshire isn't even a major whisky (let alone whiskey) area. Is it?

/me thought Scotch was basically delicious Islay, mainstream Speyside, and a few also-rans. Anyone want to correct me?

Sorry, I just noticed that I did Scottish spelling in title and Irish spelling in the actual post.

Sarah - I believe that Japan imports huge amounts of whisky.

It's the Johnnie Walker bottling plant in Kilmarnock that's closing.

Oh, well, no tears to shed over that. So long as the real stuff - especially the Islay stuff - doesn't suffer!

Must be more-or-less 30 years since they first tried to discontinue Johnny Walker. Though that may have been just the brand, not the factory.

Aha, even as I write, the wireless announces the news!
