I got 11 - 1 on Australia to win the Lords Test yesterday afternoon. Put my whole STR fund on it. Am I mad?

Utterly insane. I put three quid on at 7.5/1.

I still think they are fair odds from this point.

I got 8.2/1 Saturday morning for Australia to win.

I'm also on pre match England to win at 4/1.

As long as it doesn't rain tomorrow I win.

Good skills. Better than gambling on HPI. I am happy with my £20 at 11-1. Wish I had gone for 25 - 1 just after Ponting got out.

Can`t believe you guys are still betting with conventional bookies -you could have got 90`s on Betfair when the fifth Australian wicket fell yesterday .

Hahaha, erm, as long as your STR fund isn't more than about £50, no, sounds like a good fun bet. If the Aussies can keep it together for the first hour or so, they're in a with bloody good chance.

The kangaroo has been tied down. Gentlemen, you may now jump up and down on it, cheering.

Had a beer called "Ashes Ale"[1] last night. From Marstons, IIRC. 'twas OK but undistinguished.

Is there a moral in there?

[1] Or something. Definitely had "ashes" in the name, and said "not for aussies".

I once mulled the idea of a retirement bet that in the next 30 years, neither Everton, Spurs, Newcastle or Aston Villa would win the Premier League, and that England would not win the European or World Cups.

Thought it might pay well as an accumulator, but I've never bothered to check the odds.
