Irish Retail Sales Collapse 15% Y-o-y

Recommended Posts

The statistics agency says the value of retail sales over the same period was down almost 20%

The motor trade accounted for a significant proportion of the decline, suffering a massive 40% fall in sales.

Bar sales were down more than 11%, while sales of clothing, footwear and textiles were down 17% and sales of household equipment were down 22%.

All going North of the border?

Well, they did have the most insane HPI within the union.

Seems only fair that they see the biggest overall collapse as well.

The down side is that the locals will start finger pointing and re-kindling the hatred and violence which was happily shelved in favour of the cheap credit and property speculation.

It's funny that if you look at the COLD HARD FACTS then we're in the brown stuff way over all our heads, but if you listen to the bulls on here and the VI's in the media then sentiment points to a different future.

And yet a Irish colleague of mine has just been accepted by an Irish Bank for a six-times multiple mortgage ...

I can`t imagine theres many Banks in the UK offering that for a FTBuyer ...

Watch the Republic closely for a taste what's to come elsewhere. The tiger is now the "Celtic Canary".

you mean for the crash or for what happens when they join the euro? either way, I agree they are the canary for us.
