House Price Tinkle?

Recommended Posts

letting the wind & rain blow in ...or is it a crack in the pane that we can live with and mend with some sellotape?

I dont know ....prices around me KT5 ( South West London ) appear to be back on the rise .,.....estate agent have started to act like their cocky selves as limited supply means houses ( even ones that need work ) fly off the shelves close to asking price

I'd say last October, November, December '08 the EA's were worried , no-one was buying ....now they say the buyers are back........( although when I told them there was nothing for sale they agreed,)in fact pre-Christmas there was a real fear amongst sellers and a few bargains into the matter around my way ....now the bargains have gone and we seem to be back to ridiculous prices......

are we in a seasonal blip .....will winter bring the gloom back? and the prices down ...or have they managed to tape up the crack in the window? I've just sold but still debating rent or buy...was looking for a run down project ...but absolutely nothing out there...

Na.... I think we are half way through the crash, I think we are in a bull trap phase.

Think about it, prices are still to unsustainable, massive job losses, many FTB's cannot get mortgages, I can (but won't, not yet anyway) but it's not really enough for a home of my own. I have a reasonable deposit.

I have my eye on several places that desperately needs doing up (a perfect years long project for me not to sell but to keep), and they have been on the market for many full moons and the vendors are still steadily decreasing the asking price.

Just wait.

Edit:

Ooh my 100th post!!! Do I get a prize??

Hamish....Is that you?

Hmmm....

If it is a reconsituted Troll, then the flowery use of the English language (e.g. ...a crack in the pane that we can live with and mend with some sellotape?) more suggests Sibley to me.

are we in a seasonal blip ?

.....will winter bring the gloom back?

and the prices down ?

...or have they managed to tape up the crack in the window?

Is there a point to this thread ?

Will we be given any facts or statistics ?

Will we see a link sometime ?

Well, it is an anecdotal and nobody can ever supply a link for one of them.

However, the OP obviously has his pulse on the world of estate agency, having been able to continually appraise the mood in the industry since last October.

And what does that tell us?

ive been looking on the house price website and have to agree that there was real panic in the second half of last year and maybe jan and feb - big discounts from asking on many homes.

I think it may be different in London, but around here (northants, beds, w.cambs) prices seem to have stagnated more than anything with no visible 'bargains.' ie priced lower than 2003 levels. I do lpok at London prices and think whats going on, it cant all be the 'bonus' effect - i mean unemployment has practically doubled ffs.
