Nhs Recommends Pupils Have An 'orgasm A Day'

Recommended Posts

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...ack-stroke.html

The NHS is telling pupils they have a 'right' to an enjoyable sex life in a leaflet being sent to schools.

It encourages them to consider an 'orgasm a day' as a way reduce the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

And if they can't get sex, the leaflet says children should consider masturbation.

The advice appears in guidance circulated to parents, teachers and youth workers. It says experts have for too long concentrated on the need for 'safe sex' and loving relationships - while ignoring the main reason people have sex, for enjoyment.

But family groups condemned the guidance last night, saying it would encourage children to have underage sex and could lead to rising rates of sexually-transmitted diseases.

Around 40,000 teenage girls fall pregnant every year in the UK - the highest level in western Europe. More than half end up in abortion.

The leaflet has come to light just a week after it emerged that a £6million initiative to reduce teenage pregnancies more than doubled the number of girls conceiving.

The Government-backed scheme tried to persuade teenage girls not to get pregnant by handing out condoms and teaching them about sex. But a study in the British Medical Journal found girls on the scheme were 'significantly' more likely to fall pregnant than other girls.

Now criticism is focused on the new leaflet, entitled Pleasure, which has been drawn up by Sheffield primary care trust.

Under the heading 'an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away', it says: 'Health promotion experts advocate five portions of fruit and veg a day and 30 minutes physical activity three times a week.

'What about sex or masturbation twice a week?'

Author Steve Slack, director of the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health and NHS Sheffield, denied the document promoted underage sex.

He said it could encourage young people to delay losing their virginity until they are sure they will enjoy the experience.

Mr Slack added that as long as teenagers are fully informed about sex and are making decisions free of peer pressure and as part of a caring relationship, they have as much right as an adult to a good sex life.

But Anthony Seldon, master of Wellington College, Berkshire, who introduced classes in emotional wellbeing at the public school, said the approach was 'deplorable'.

And Dr Trevor Stammers of the pressure group Family and Youth Concern said the leaflet would encourage children into risky behaviour, which could result in them catching sexually transmitted diseases.

'If you look at the people who come into my surgery, it's the orgasm that got them there - not kept them away,' he said. 'It is unbelievable that this is being sent to schools.

'I'd like to know what scientific evidence there is to back this up. There are an awful lot of overpaid and underoccupied health promotion officers around who are obsessed with sex.

'This leaflet encourages the idea that there is nothing more to sex than pleasure, and inciting underage sex is doing nothing less than encouraging child abuse.

'If the NHS wants to promote a healthy heart, as it says it does in this leaflet, it should put the money into reducing smoking and alcohol - which cause far more cardiac damage than encouraging people to have sex.

'The strapline I'd have is - sex is an adult activity. Underage sex is as dangerous as underage drink and usually leads to sexual ill-health.'

Two years ago a charity said masturbation techniques should be taught to children in sex education classes.

The Family Planning Association suggested that pupils should be shown explicit videos of masturbation at school - but family values campaigners said the proposal was nothing more than the promotion of pornography.

I know it's the Wail but this is just getting ridiculous and we have people being paid with taxpayer cash to come up with this?

Would a masturbation video have helped anyone here on how to do it? I can say I certainly didn't need any tips on figuring out what to do.

Once more the nanny state to the rescue.

I wonder if the IMF will keep these sort of essentials when they arrive?

Nobody seems to have figured out that the more state inteference there is, the worse the problem gets. Guess who picks up the tab for all those abortions too? The taxpayer again.

I suspect twice a week would mean a significant cutback for many. Telling teenagers to masturbate is like telling bears to suck eggs and granny to sh!t in the woods...

I'm glad my taxes are being wisely spent, then.

Remember folks, this is the government that, under Margaret Hodge's ministry, allowed sex offenders to work in Islington care homes. The group was lobbying for sex with children as young as four to be legalised

Hodge was also in charge of Islington council during care home abuse scandals previous to that as well.

Its laughable that in such a sexualised society, parents still hold any talk of sex as a taboo issue and refuse to discuss it in a mature fashion with their children.

I'm a Sexual Diversity officer, I propose the next phase is for all to try Beastility.

I propose £5 billion to be allocated to the programme, which will include free tickets to their nearest farm, and free Wellies and velcro gloves.

And if we step from the Daily Mail nonsense, they are actually telling girls to have a ***** instead of risking getting knocked up.

You might be surprised to learn that teaching grown women to masturbate was a big feminist thing in the 1960s/70s. An artist called Betty Dodson put together an instructive slideshow and wrote a how-to book called "Sex for one". Yes, they even needed pictures and nobody thought it was ridiculous either. This was grown adults of age during the sexual revolution 'getting it' a lot more often than you are right now probably and 30-40% of them never having an orgasm from it.

It would appear from this (and all I can do is surmise here obviously) that for young women and girls it isn't necessarily quite as intuitive as it is for chaps.

Well I don't think I speaking to that point exactly.

Are you more in favour of women not having any sexual pleasure?

Located in a cave on the Pakistan/Afghanistan border right now by any chance?

No objection at all - I'm just taken aback that society wasted its time promoting something so utterly normal.

You tell that to my sister who at the age of three used to lay face down with her hands jammed between her legs wriggling.

parent "Why are doing that?!"

her "l like it"

parent "well stop"

her "why"

parent "er..."

I think sexuality in girls is suppressed by upbringing and social memes of behaviour, left to their own devices they manage well enough.

Well, er, "DabHand" ( :o ) I'm not denying some girls figure it out, although if you want me to talk about masturbation with your sister then by all means...ahem (you only have yourself to blame for that reply before you start loading the shotgun).

I think it is less consistent though. What do you think 'hysteria' in Fin de siècle Vienna was really about?

Masturbation and smoking were my two main vices when I was a teenager.

It was very tough to stop as I was a 20 a day man and smoked like a trooper.

that's my oipinion too - I'm not sure that the over-compensatrion towards sexual freedoms in the 60s, presumably in response to the more repressed values in prior generations - was entirely helpful. People have been randomly w*nking and sh*gging for all of time, and the only advice I would give is to take social and financial responsibility for the outcome - diseases and kiddies
