so what are your criteria for this award?

that you feel the job is worthless?

job isn't worth what they're offering?

they get paid more than you?

I agree with your inference. It is not just the overpaid executives who are of concern. The public sector are populated by people right across the salary spectrum who are unable or unwilling to work for a living. When I have time, I do the 'twilight zone' which highlights all the pointless jobs, such as inclusivity police etc. The easiest target is to pick the most obscenely paid. For example how much is the following job worth?

Qualifications required: Social science degree from a Div 4 University

Experience required: Town hall politics

Hours: 37.5

Competition: None

Budget responsibilities: truck loads of money but make sure you spend it all by year end.

Languages required: English and PC

Accountability for mistakes: None

Chances of getting the sack: none

Chances for covering mistakes: endless

When the employment criteria are as loose as that, the job can be done by light weights no matter how big the spending budget or how many people are being managed. Given their performance and manning levels, I am struggling to see why any local council employee can justify a salary of more than £65k.

All you have to do is apply and then do the job - but you're all bark and no bite.

All funny handshake jobs I'm afraid, the adverts are just there so the corruption would stand up in a (bent) court.

Wow, required to travel across East Sussex. No wonder the salary needs to be £110,000. I would with that traveling you wouldn't get home until 4:30pm some days.

Reading about these jobs make me feel sick. There is no good reason for salaries to be this high in the public sector. Any party which promised a salary cap of say £60,000 in the public sector would make huge political capital. These wages just seem like arbitrary amounts. Why not a salary of £60,000, £85,000, £77,123 or £102,000 for being the Director of Strategy and Primary Care/Deputy Chief Executive? Is it because other local authorities pay the same?

isnt it obvious?

its to support the entire pyramid of lower levels, each and every level being paid a huge salary, with 6 weeks paid leave, sickies and pension.

£150 for the CE, £140 for the dep x5, £130 for the assistant dep x25, £120 for the department SEO x125, £110 for the ........

they fail to mention the bunch of newlab sycophantic *rseholes you'll have to work with on a daily basis and the hideous disconnection with reality required at all times combined with a sanctimonious holier-than-though attitude and a pathological need for approval

So true. They wax lyrical about the importance of work life balance, sensible working hours, health and safety, inclusivity, pensions etc. This is so easy to do when all you have to do is pillage money from tax payers. Have they any idea of how brutal life has become for small companies?
