Did Anyone Watch Torchwood Tonight?

League tables used to weed out the chavs, "spin is all we have", etc. I thought it was a wonderful depiction of nulabour. Not to mention the reference to a flu pandemic :o

Still waiting for that bloke from The Thick of It to tear the aliens a verbal new one though....

Yes right on the edge, very provocative. They must have thought long and hard about whether to air it on TV, just like I wasnt sure whether I would reply to your post. Good programming should be provocative like this?

Still, a valid point was made. But I wont add to you post further as I dont want to accidentally write anything contentious.

There's been quite a lot of it in the new DrWhoniverse. I liked the Master's manifestation as Tony Blair a couple of years back.

The General Belgrano thing in a christmas special was rubbish though.

I was watching it with the missus and I said "Give 456 the yob's, little sh*ts, druggies, gangs..." . Problem solved.

I think a few of us thought that...

I am sure you will be aware of the irony that the only reason you or I have the luxury of being able to suggest that the chavs should go first is because of the very system that has allowed us this luxury.

In other words, we don't get to live the way we do without them living the way they do.

Get rid of the chavs and be ready to take their place

And how refreshing to see men kissing.

More, BBC, More

Can't get enough of that crypto-sociast, liberal, pan-gender, sexually inclusive, anti-alien intrique.

Strangely socialist countries tend to disapprove of such things.

Ah, you haven't heard the second part of the plan.

Arm the little buggers before you send them off. 456 dealt with.

Politicians and public sector workers children exempt from alien monster number 456's attention.

Victims chosen from school league tables and benefit claimants.

456 not at all happy, never seen and tending to throw a lot of green slime around. Never seen except for a sort of lobster claw banging against the sides of its glass container. Mood mostly reliant on the Spooks series style of music.

It's a global problem of course but what isn't these days.

Maybe alien monster number 457 would be worse with even more green slime and claw banging so watch out (and get a public sector job, off benefits and have a word with the headmaster about the school's league position and quick :blink: ).

Taxpayer alert when the monster's around.

TV with an "I can do that" script - Catherine Tate's Helen Marsh character style.

Well only if they were mob handed. The little sh1tes seem a lot less brave when on their own, somehow.

Still, at least we can be comforted by the fact that they will have nicked it's bike from outside the conference hall by episode 3.

Wow, I didn't notice the Gordon Brown reference when I watched it, but now you mention it...

A nice idea, but sadly the 456 only wanted children, otherwise it would have been a much easier decision.

May I preempt the hpc 'dole bashers', by saying that the 456 had the right idea.

Get the lazy good for nothings off their butts when there's plenty of 'pointing' to be done

Reminded me of a Quatermass that ITV did back in the 70s? Think it had John Mills in the lead. Yes, 1979.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078129/plotsummary

After the mysterious destruction of the new space station, young people find themselves drawn to a stone circle in England, and other locations around Earth. They believe they'll be taken to a better place by a higher power. Only Professor Quatermass realizes that the young people are being tricked by an alien power, who wants to "harvest" humanity. It's up to Quatermass to find a way to stop the deadly plans of the aliens.

Remember it well. I was only little then, but it had me absolutely spellbound

Did you feel the urge to go to any stone circles or Wembley Stadium? Luckily, if the aliens came back today they would not be able to park near there!

 Wouldn't have got very far. Lived on the Isle of Wight then and I've never been a particularly good swimmer.

Back on topic - some people who ordered DVDs for the whole series got them early. There's some serious spoilers out there on t'interweb.

Don't worry, I'm not saying a word ;)

Don't know why you bothered. As I said, I'm keeping schtum. You'll have to find out for yourself.
