Time For Cameron To Sack Coulson?

Recommended Posts

Hacked and Tapped 1,000's including Cabinet Ministers.

Just imagine how Mur_doch and his bent cronies could be secretly blackmailing these people to influence decisions/make Government and other major companies/infrastructures work for them!

How many other Papers/Reporters are 'at it'?

Coulson's going to have to fight like hell to keep his job.

This is a story with legs, and Cameron will want to distance himself very quickly. My bet is he'll back him till Friday, see if it's still front page news in the Sundays, and sack him Monday morning.

yes, this could all backfire horribly on murdoch couldn't it?

they've spent a shedload of time and money on fabricating sensationalist articles in the media(on completely trivial celebrity nonsense) to further his aims, now what if the same methods are used on HIM??

Witch-hunts and gossip aren't very nice.

I don't suppose he would feel terribly comfortable with a vigilante mob parked outside his house threatening him or his family for something totally unsubstantiated.

Lead story on Channel 4 now. Cameron still defending but looking distinctly uncomfortable. Story gets more and more murky. Non-Murdoch press now crawling all over it.

Can Coulson keep his job - Cameron will be dogged by this one if he doesn't do something soon.

Dropped by the police like a brick even though the Guardian are adamant they have proof. Is there any institution in this country that's sound?

Listening to the Met spokesman his main point seemed to be they only prosecuted where they had clear and indisputable evidence. Guardian convinced they've got more and fresh evidence.

Either way Coulson's dirty and Cameron's going to have to drop him. It would strain credibility for Cameron to attack the surveillance state when his own press secretary may have been ordering his minions to break the law.

The press and parliament will be all over this story for weeks to come. The pressure's definitely on Cameron and it'll be interesting how he re-acts.

Basically, NO.

They just knew the tentacles, once uncovered would have to be followed up, and through- far too scary for Con/Lib/Lab OR the rozzers

The political angle to this story doesn't register compared to the damaging exposure of the McBride smear machine. Coulson has plausible deniability and even if this story does escalate, it's got nothing to do with Cameron.

The bigger this story gets the more damage caused to Murdochs empire. Sweet.

Wrong. Very wrong. Coulson sits at the heart of Cameron's political machine and he's dirty. Cameron can only defend him so long before Coulson tarnishes him as well.

prosecutions in this matter are not in the public interest.

move along, nothing to see here.

This summer's main spectator sport.

Every newspaper and journo in the UK wants a piece of this story. Cameron looked decidedly uncomfortable today - he's planning now how to extricate himself without looking as though he's weak and runs away from the press.

I'm betting Cameron will try damage limitation early next week. Coulson's at the heart of a major breaking scandal

Stay around. Lots to see.

No , just the usual labour filth trying a stitch-up. I'm afraid this won't stick my foam flecked socialist super mong, the list of other papers who used the same Private Investigators is a long one ( and includes The Observer- the Guardians sister paper). It will, however,be interesting to see what the Murdoch press response will be.

I think it's very wishful thinking that Cameron will be seriously damaged by this, very low register on the Richter Scale unfortunately.

May I quote you on that?

I would suggest that the Police are looking for an "appeal" by someone (Labour?) in particular, and that htey have already realised by the time this investigation has come to a close if initiated, then there will be a CONSERVATIVE Government in power...

You are all lost on this.

Murdoch, his Media together with their Employees will never be touched, Rupert is owed many favours by too many people.

Cameron`s Mentor Thatcher will always be thankful to Murdoch for carrying out her dirty work and Cameron still supports this. One boy became Prime Minister and another boy hopes to become Prime Minister. ;)
