Buy A Holiday Home And Feck The Locals

Recommended Posts

The lifestyle stories in the Times seem to be written for a small section of the Primrose Hill set in London - Young, rich and no proper job.

As for the Style section of the Sunday Times... only worth opening if you are close friends with Kate Moss. Apparently EVERYONE is chartering a jet for a last minute weekend away in Ibiza these days DARLING!

Articles like this crop up regularly, and are a good indicator of just how many journalists and their relatives/mates are desperate to flog their holiday homes.

" The average value of a property in 1999 was £65,000, according to the Land Registry; by April last year, prices had reached a peak of £210,000. "

Bit of a school boy error to put this bit in, must be all of £40k down off peak prices and they are trying persuade people they are getting a bargain now.

This part of the crash is what I have been looking forward to most, went to Padstow last year and very ordinary 3 bed bungalows going for over £500K (not prime location), locals will be talking about these day in decades to come. I just feel sorry for the locals who took out the liar loans/high multiples to try and compete.

agreed, it's pathetic, much of its content appears to be aimed at readers who are well inside the new 50% tax bracket... but there are only 300,000 in total in the new band, and assuming that [conservatively] 100,000 of them don't buy a sunday paper & 100,000 read one of the other three broadsheets, then there can only be 100,000 of them reading the sunday times, i.e. less than 10% of its 1m+ readership... it must be the case that a fair proportion of its readership are fantasists who enjoy daydreaming about having that sort of cash...
