sophia
Didn't Kielty interview HPC's very own FP about house prices last year sometime? I think he has been on the ball for a while tbh! you might be getting him confused with Steven Nolan?
OnionTerror
It's a very interesting observation. Not like in the 80s and 90s when Ben Elton & co. laid into the Tory government. Of course, Spitting image was mainstream. We have HIGNFY and Bremner, Bird and Fortune, but I'd class them as for an educated palette... It makes you wonder why there is so little comic criticism of the bankers and what is probably a government a lot worse than the much lambasted Tories of the past. Today's comedians: are they part of the establishment? Are they denied access? Or do they not get it? I think the vast majority of them are part of the establishment. There are a very few "Comedians" who haven't appeared in adverts of some kind (either in them, or were doing the voice overs). A lot of them also earn their hefty whack from doing corporate gigs (possibly for giving out awards / after dinner speaking etc.), many I suspect for are for banks - so they most likely daren't take their material down that route. As an aside, apparently Steve Coogan turned down a million quid deal from McDonalds, who asked him to do an Alan Partridge ad. hmm.. Edit: It would appear that PK earns between 16 - 25k doing just that.. ruddy 'ell http://www.nmplive.co.uk/viewTalent.aspx?i...TCat=Presenters How much for this chap.. 12p? MrPants
Of the comics who have any interest in politics the great majority are left wing, hence the bias. Banking is only touched by a few as it's complex and hence hard to get laughs out of, more general, often ill informed 'credit crunch' material is quite widespread. The comic who did the excellent negative equity material is Alun Cochrane.
