Austrian Coin Trick Confounds German Border Control

Sounds like a non-story to me.

You cannot stop, licence or charge people for taking money across EU borders. You can make them report the fact though and this is what this is about.

I noticed that if you have the coins shipped to an address, for example, in Austria, France, Germany and Italy there is only 7% VAT as opposed to the UK's 15%.

EU price £10.75p

UK price £11.56p

I was just looking at that yesterday and couldn't understand it. You only pay VAT once in the EU and it's charged at the rate of the Country where the product is sold, not where it's going to.
