Why Are British Women So Fat ?

Recommended Posts

I just got back from a trip around Europe, spanning 4 countries, upon returning one thing struck me, it stands out so much that it cannot be ignored, British men are being hard done by, our women do not take care of themselves and are mostly overweight. I know most guys would agree with me on this, but are there any women out there that can explain this, was it feminism, is it just that you are all lazy / don't want to take care of yourselves, what, anybody care to explain. The difference is astounding, can't you all just eat less and work out ?

As a new poster, can I suggest you've metaphorically killed around 30% of your fellow posters here.

Also, in Italy they aren't all Monica Belluci. Like in the UK, women aren't all like Bella Emberg.

we are all fat and ugly people. Men and women alike.

Yes, we have some pretty ones and some who look after themselves, but on the whole, along with the Germans, we are right bunch of fugly units.

I know it is a hard fact to face up to, but the difference is so striking that it makes it impossible to ignore, I know it is a non PC issue and obviously anything that remotely wiffs of being anti women is seen as a thought crime, but come on.

You've just had a bad experience in the wrong night club.

At least our women don't stink of garlic like our Gallic friends.

Yep, its why I'm marrying a girl from Turkey (slim and pretty), my mate a girl from Portugal (slim and pretty) and my other mate has just married a girl from Prague (slim and pretty).

The British wife has been out competed by foreign imports.

I am not being anti - women, I am just commenting on women because I am hetro and attracted to them, sorry I can't pass judgement on men in that way, not really sure what women look for in men (still) so I would find it hard to define any parameters.

This is just it, if most British women just lost the pounds that would 75% of the battle won, I am not saying that they look bad or don't have potential just the wrong shape, sort of lost that sexy woman shape, more blob shaped which is dissapointing.

But you are being anti women. On the continent generally I see much better looking/dressed/cared for men AND women.

Yes, but can any of those men do anything without checking with their Mummy?

* Cars

* Booze

* Eating food produced in factories

I have several Chinese and Japanese neighbours - Women in their 30s - It may be partly genetic, but there isn't an ounce of fat on any of them. They generally don't spend their weekends drunk and eat less processed and more fresh food.

Many British women, and men, are nothing more than corporate fodder. Like foie-gras geese.

Sorry ladies but this is true, whenever I visit the UK I notice this as well. However :

1. It is also true of British men(so the "hard done by" bit is definitely wrong).

2. It's not the whole story, for example many Genevoise women are beautifully presented but have their nose so far in the air they never see their feet.

Go Dutch is my advice - many beautiful strong girls there with a great attitude, you'll need to be sharp to measure up.

Well I am glad it is not just me that has noticed this, I just don't know how British men put up with it, I think feminism in the 80s had a lot to do with it personally. The situation is not beyond repair, just eat less girls and get into the gym.

forget the dutch go scandinavia , women are amazing with good sense of custom tradition but very modern free thinking and broadminded , humour is good . quite similar to north east england

The German's have the biggest obesity problem in Europe, followed by the Brits. I would tend to agree with the post above - poor food and lack of exercise being the main cause.

Not sure about the male/female split TBH.

Another factor is that smoking has declined in the UK whilst here in France (slimmer) and Italy (much slimmer) where we used to live smoking is more or less the norm. Most people put on a few kilos when they stop giving themselves cancer (so, presumably, they can die of heart attack instead).

Hmm might do that, it is true that travelling broadens your horizons, I just don't know how Brit women can be so snooty when they have not that much to offer by comparison.

Noticed this big time also. It is not a slur on anyones personality, but I do agree. If you think the contrast is bad in Europe, then try Asia. I hardly ever see a fatwomen there, unless shes a British tourist :P ...

The problem is lifestyle and diet, comfort eating etc etc. Not that is an excuse. The average calorie take in Asia is higher than in the US, an unbelievable fact. However, it depends on the quality of those calories. I am convinced that it is the intake of low GI foods...I know and see girls here, that drink a can of iron bru or redbull at 8.30 in the morning, perhaps with a bag of crisps. My mate who has went back to study for the second time, said all he can smell in the classroom is redbull, and giggling and st*te talk, gossip, Big Brother, Jade Goody culture, the tabloids Princess Dianna you could say,haha...He is put off lets say.

Of course we need to judge individuals and not tarnish everyone with the same brush. However, the trend is that women and men are getting fatter, but there are more fat women than men, perhaps that is my bias as I notice that more, but it does seem that...

In conjunction with the trend in fizy drinks, chips and mayo alcohol, lack of exercise there is a upward surge in the number of women with horrible tatoos. Those ones that span across the lower back and look as cheap as chips. It is really off putting.

For sure I do see many pretty girls who dress tastefully, but the trend is towards what I mentioned...evidence, the average school uniform size has increased by 2-3 sizes i think it is over the last 10 years.

In Asia and Europe the diet is much better. It is not as if the knowledge and info is not there to know this so there really is no excuse. When the info is there to know how to lose weight (low GI diet all the way)and people don't do it, then it either comes down to comfort eating (addiction) and being bone idle, and probably some ignorance also.

Low GI diet should not be any higher than 40 a day on the index, a can off coke is 28 on the index, so if you have one can of coke, then you havent much leeway for food. Those cereal bars also which purport to be healthy are high GI, full of sugar and syrup...

On the GI index, meat is fine (no sugar) good breads, high fibre, porridge, wholewheats, quinoa, bulgar wheat, wild rice, brown rice, cheese, houmous, strawberrys, berrys, vegetables, fish, lentils, pasta, beans and pulses, brazil nuts, cashews, pine kernals, almonds to name a few of 100's of foods. Anything which causes the blood sugar levels to fluctuate like starchy foods, high sugar foods will make you put on weight. I dont worry about the fat content as far as weight is concerned, as long as the sugar is low, and unrefined foods are not there...There really is no excuse for women or men to be overweight if you dont want to be, if you want to be then thats fine...

Lastnight I had...fresh tuna steaks done on the barbeque, sausages (pork and apple), with a salad made freshly from rocket leaves, feta cheese, pine nuts, sliced strawberry's with a raspberry balsamic vinegar dressing...someone else I know( afemale) had chips for lunch with mayo and lasange and a couple of cans of fizzy drinks, and crisps in the day. In early twenties and about 3 and half stone heavier than me...go figure

Agreed, it's a national scandal and desperately unfair to British men.

I don't know when I last saw a scruffy, overweight, flabby-gutted bloke who still thinks he's God's gift. ;)

I live in London and you dont see many fat people travelling on the tube and even out and about.

However if you go to regioal shopping centres you do see alot of fat people, typically in poorer areas. Its weird the poorer you are the fatter the you are!

And why does the woman always have to be the slim one, so the nitwit bloke can show her off to his mates (even though he probably has a massive gut and moobs). you see some right lardo blokes with slim women, but that is deemed as ok?

Dont get me wrong being overweight so you look like a big doughball is not attractive, but if everyone looked the same it would be very boring.

Oh no, I quite admit that British men are fat and boozy too. But I have no intention of mating with any of them so its irrelevant.

Come off it Mrs Bear, Women spend billions on beauty products, shop for 10 x more clothes than men do, all geared to looking attractive, in a way whether you like it or not it is your job to look pretty, men on the other hand, well we try. Myself, I have always been slim, and have maintained some sort of sport since the age of 14.

How about all the Eastern European women around the UK now, compare them to British women, is it just a coincidence that the slim ones got here.

You must have seen me in Kingston then. ;)

Although I don't think I am anyone's gift.

i also don't understand this obsession with body fat. Lots of women look lovely with a bit of extra upholstery. I don't class myself as a chubbychaser, and accept that past a certain point there are real health problems, but people ought to realise that this hatred of fat, which has been manufactured by the diet and exercise industry, as well as government is as obscene as the property pumping porn of the last 10 years.

for instance, if you remove diabetics from obesity figures, the life expectancy of someone who is obese (but not morbidly obese) is better than someone who is supposed to be of a "healthy" weight.

The continent plays host - in general - to much more attractive people, women and men. This is due to several reasons: they often have a better diet; they exercise and look after themselves; and they are less cynical than the Brits and often have a rosier outlook on life.

I don't think weight's a major issue. Even overweight continental women look sexier and more attractive that their British counterparts.

It's also the way they act. Foreign women, in my view, know how to make a man feel special (even if she doesn't fancy him, and has no intention of sleeping with him, they know how to make him feel good and make his day that little bit better); whereas British women are often (but not exclusively) jealous cynical gossip-merchants.

Feminism has stopped men being men and women being women. So many women bang on about how there are few real men out there, but the emasculation of men is largely feminism's fault.

Being rather older than probably the vast majority on this site, it is amazing to me how obese young British women have become.

It is also amazing how many young obscenely obese women and men wobble around the place.

Perhaps most worrying of all are the kids: between 5-10 they are increasingly grotesque.

Causes?

Too much mass-manufactured over-advertised junk: supermarkets are full of it. Is it really so essential to have no fresh herbs much, but two aisles of crisps and snack things?

Incredible the amount of sweet synthetic drinks people guzzle too! Look at most mothers at the checkout.

Next cause: no real regular daily exercise.

"Playing" tennis is via Wii etc.

Schools sold off their playing fields in the insanity of the Thatcher Boom-Bust property scramble: Lefty Bleeding Hearts teachers (If they can honestly be dignified by such a title) dictated that sports were "Elitist" 'cos someone one and loads didn't. Ah poor bloody little dears.

Modern society conceals every bad thing by awarding them whizzy titles: thus large people carriers transport one parent and one child each morning on the "School Run".

My infant school was circa 1 mile from home: my mother took me three times probably and that was it. Walked to school each day and home afterwards at the age of 5.

We cycled everywhere too: and by this I don't mean tricked up in poncy Lycra with a silly plastic hat when the sun shines and we decided to p1$$ off loads of other road users for an hour or so by weaving up a road with our tight little **** in the air!

I played Rugby, Cricket in Summer; swam and played tennis: both for a club and for the school.

Often used to cycle 50 miles early on a Saturday morning with a friend: 25 miles there and 25 back. Have a wash, something to eat and go to the tennis club and play until we couldn't see the balls anymore!

And then I had to take the nets down and into the store: put away the loungers and deckchairs and lock it all up.

Sitting on one's jacksie, watching moronic TV whilst guzzling Coke and banging down all sorts of manufactured "snacks", full of chemicals doesn't a princess make.

However, if you think Brits are fat, go to California!

Not many sylphlike Pamela Andersons there I tell you!

I just couldn't believe that Levi Strauss made bell tents too!
