And will now be lined up and shot!

Incidentally, I met a couple who had just been to China, the girls purse had been stolen on a train, she informed the guard. The train was stopped further down the line, soldiers came on, searched the train and found the thief. He was bought to the girl, her purse returned and in broken English was told the following. 'Please tell everyone tourists are safe in China'. With that a soldier put a bullet in the thief's head. The girl was still upset and told me she wished she had not reported it!

Whilst on the subject, if you want to understand why the Chinese are as they are, read "Wild Swans" by Jung Chang. Great book!

How long ago was the summary execution of a petty thief going on in China?

Mental oriental indeed.

Looks like they're having some teething problems.. also makes you wonder who is going to want to live in one of the other two blocks!?

The collapse of one has effectively written off the whole lot :o

A funny bunch. I took a ferry from Hong Kong to China, on the return we had to wait outside the ferry terminal which was empty of people but had the duty free. I was the only male and a Chinese officer told all the 8 women to give me their passports, that's a bit sexist I thought! Anyway, our ferry was at 15.45 and that time was printed on the ticket, so was 15.30. It was hot, I asked the ladies if they wanted to wait inside, there was the duty free, toilets and a cafe, they said yes. So I stepped inside, showed the tickets and was told to wait outside. I left it for a couple of minutes then tried again, as one of the ladies wanted to use the toilet. Again I was told to wait. This time I tried explaining why we wanted to go inside, no joy. Two more attempts were made and on the fourth attempt, we were allowed in at guess what, 15.30 exactly, to the second. The fact the entire place was empty of customers but full of staff was of no matter to them at all.

The building has not fallen over at all!

If you look closely you can clearly see the banding straps holding the flat-pack together.
