Can Anyone Suggest A Good Country To Wait It All Out In ?

Recommended Posts

If (hypothetically) somebody was looking to spend a little cash, have a nice time in a relatively safe / modern country for a few years whilst the UK sorts itself out... which country would you recommend ... and why ?

There so many good looking babes down there, horny as a jack rabbit. Plus all the XXXX and FOSTERS, you can sink into.

It would be decades before you resurfaced and Boy ! What a ride.

You would come back on this board in 50 years time and say

"Recession - Did I miss it". We would all say " Which one ?"

I'm sure that she has a very nice personality.

Both Oz and Canada are good suggestions.. but don't you need to get some kind of residency visa ? AFAIK you have a right to live in another EU country.

( Not looking to live in a hut in a village in Thailand... or some poverty country ).

You don't need to. My 2000 sq.ft, well appointed pad in a village in Thailand is a million times more comfortable than my existence in the UK ever was.

Canada is OK except that it's too cold.

In Australia there's too much racism.

. . . and savagely hot! With midges!

Go and stay there, OP. I've yet to meet a Canadian that had a bad word for the place. A third of my family have lived in Manitoba since the 60's and love it.

Canada.

Loads of land, not many people, not too insane.

I did enjoy watching the "truckers " on the ice

How much to buy or rent a home in Thailand ?

Ive been reading about the Philippines too, and it seems like a low cost place to live and there are many English speaking people, while the women are friendly too...especially if you lend them money ;)

Rent, uber cheap. Can't buy, you're a farang. My daughter owns all the freeholds I have 60 year lease. You can buy a condo. But the rules can change in an instant. Rent. Best option. For a liveable house up here in the sticks, about 3000+ a month I guess, around £55.

Philippines, okay if you have your own military industrial complex I suppose. Tanks and missile launchers and wotnot.

I'm going to be careful what I say here, because I don't want to upset Lorna, but avoid . . . . know what I mean?

Can you do a visa run to the US? Go across, stamp passport, come back in again?

No - not the same as the Malaysia/Laos/Cambodia visa runs in Thailand

Aussies don't drink that crap - they just market it as an "Australian" beer abroad.

I'd suggest Thailand. Nice people, fascinating culture, plenty to see and do, great food. And cheap.

Try the Afghanistan / Pakistan border area.

Some questions are so silly they don't deserve a sensible answer.
