Episode 3

Against the backdrop of a falling market, Sarah Beeny offers help to two couples hoping to increase their profits by taking the risky step of digging out their basements to create extra space in their developments in Bethnal Green, East London and in Shere, Surrey. But will they heed her advice?.

Oh dear. I fear the worst.

I hope HPCers will support these plucky young couples in their efforts.

I have to admit a degree of ambivalence when confronted with young couples getting into the housing market or trading up in the face of all the bearish advice offered from sources such as this site. On the one hand the socially responsible part of me wants to prevent people suffering long term financial hardship just for the sake of hearing some words of caution. On the other hand as someone who intends to buy at the bottom of the market in a few years time there lurks a selfish side which has everything to gain from people like this crippling themselves financially as they will not be competing with me (and Mrs STA) when the time comes.

Of course, the socially responsible part still has the upper hand. ;)
