B B C: I Wouldn't Pay $1 For This Home.

Recommended Posts

'I wouldn't pay $1 for this home':

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8113140.stm

It has been almost four years since Hurricane Katrina wrought devastation across America's Gulf coast and took the lives of more than 1,500 people.

Many residents are now back in newly rebuilt homes but thousands are still living in cramped trailers supplied by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The Obama administration has now announced plans to sell the FEMA trailers to families for between $1 and $5.

While some charities have welcomed the move others say it is not the solution.

So what is life like, after almost four years, for those still living in trailers?

A load of them already were, this is not exactly news - any idea how many people are still living in caravans in the UK after the floods we had - and we had nothing compared to Katrina....

their welfare is not the p1sstake ours is, so of course they live in trailerparks.....

Well, Americas broke. Like us. Dont know what else people expect. More and more well end up like this, be it through national disaster or through overextending themselves. Its not pretty, but theyre not starving and theyve got a roof over their heads. More than most of India has.

Evidently, they should save up for an air fair to the UK, with 7 kids they'd be allocated a wing in Buckingham Palace.
