that graph does not include reinvested dividends - a bit like counting the capital appreciation on cash without interest..

DJIA total return on stocks for period 1970-1980 was 65.5%

The Co-op/Brittania are flogging off a RMBS. It's the second in as many years. Don't exactly know what I think about it, but they have a presentation with a LOT of data and graphs (describing their mortgage book, arrears levels, etc etc - last graph is the Haliwide looking a bit precarious!).

I take that to show that the "private" sector is not going to provide the growth needed to save us all.

Also shows that even now, in the 'recovereh' stage, the private sector is actually contracting at a rate higher than at the worst of the early 90s recession, and similar to the bottom of the early 80s one. And thats with double digit govt stimulus.
