Compass Magazine May 09

Recommended Posts

I was curious if anyone has a copy of the May issue of Compass magazine. I was browsing through a copy in a waiting room. Normally they are bullish to property, and typically have advertisements for homes in the £500,000+ bracket

Notably, there were two articles in the May issue by Andy Scott, each spanning a full page each. It was a little out of place in between the page advertisements for conservatories and luxury yachts.

I am trying to recall this from memory, so if the author is reading this, please forgive me. Compass magazine is not available to read online.

The first article is a scathing view on Property. He states that you should not to believe government figures about a recovery. He believes house prices falls have another 2 years to continue, and that there is another 20% falls from these levels, that is yet to come. He advises that it is indeed a buyers market, but one must buy carefully and the correct timing could have life changing/bearing consequences.

In his second article, he writes about the stock market. He advises one should sell in May and go away, even if you have positions not in profit. He states the parameters that have shaped the economy for the last decade have completely changed, one must adapt to the new world, whatever that turns out to be. However he would be interested in looking to buy stocks in October, with care and attention.
