Recommended Posts

this is nonsense as the CML says that the average mortgage for FTBs is less than 16% of their income.

this would imply that someone might have lied on the app????

again impossible as there is NO subprime in the UK.

Why are we not surprised women overtake men.

Disposable income :

Men :

  • DVDs
  • Car stuff
  • Magazines
  • Beer
  • Gadgets

Women :

  • Handbags
  • Dresses
  • Shoes
  • Makeup
  • Perfumes
  • Wine
  • A new dress everytme they leave the house
  • A dress to buy a dress

Women are can bloody shop. They are certainly have men beat hands down. Were not even playing the same sport, let the same game.

"Too many young single women have taken out mortgages that eat up far too much of their monthly salaries. This makes them vulnerable to changes in interest rates and makes them far more likely to go bankrupt if they lose their job."

Go girls

Because they're worth it.

problem is, women were born to shop, ie, spend money, men were born to jerk off to internet pawn. You can see which ones going to be the greater financial liability.

plus women get old nd smelly, men just mature.

im lolling at women in general, so this is a good thing. I hope they move out quick so i can move in sooner.

Yes, but of course the girlies have a nice get out of jail free card from the state waiting for them if they choose to forget about the career!

i'm not surprised - women used to be the prudent member of the family a generation or two ago, but no more - the consumer based society seems to have changed that.

Yes, we knew this was going to happen a while ago (the stats on singles FTBing were out there).

You'd think it would be blokes given risk-taking etc. but the issue here is Doing The Responsible Thing.

Unfortunately we all know what the Responsible Thing was...

TBH I feel that city centre slaveboxen were always marketed pretty much exclusively to young women anyway.

I don't know many blokes who have Sex & The City lifestyle aspirations.

PS. Perhaps the broadsheets should explain how they can release capital out of the "investment pieces" they have been urging women to buy for the last few years.

Surely the risk takers are those who go against the crowd when everyone and their monkey is telling them to buy now or miss the boat? If anything this just confims to me that males are the risktakers. Sometimes you get it right and dont buy a shoebox of a flat for 5 x salary and sometimes you get it wrong and wrap your car around a tree....

Sure, but if you look at the kinds of arguments put forth in the papers, the sensible, long-term thing to do was to get on the property ladder ASAP.

I don't think blokes living at home with a laundry service and catering laid on by mum were carrying out a daring investment strategy, I think they didn't give a stuff about being responsible which made them less susceptible to the hype.

But like you say, swings and roundabouts. You tend to get better exam results, especially if there is coursework involved, if you are sensible and take a long-term view etc etc.
