The landlord tried 241 times to spell the name "Charalambos Christodoulides" correctly on the lease and asked rhetorically, in front of the hired help, "should a man with a name like that be allowed to live ?" Hired help in those parts tend to take these things literally. Mind you, with a name like Thanos Papalexis, he's lucky the henchmen left himself out of the action. The Eagle
what you mean killing people?..... The missing link?.... mmmmmor by earning a ton of peanuts? By doing whatever is required to get to where they want to, with no regards to anybody, if that means someone will die in the process, that's usually not an issue as long as they are not directly involved in it. Rember killing can be done in many ways, often as a side effect (toxic pollution, unsafe products, outsourcing to companies that treat their employeees like slaves,...) godless
Article from about March 09 Deliberate Fire at Disused Brighton Ice RinkIncident commander Tony Gurr, from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, speaking at the scene. More than 30 firefighters have successfully battled a deliberate blaze at a disused ice-rink. Six fire engines and an aerial ladder rushed to the Sussex Ice Rink, in Queen’s Square, Brighton, after reports of a major fire came in tonight at 6pm. Twelve firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the burning building and searched its basement and first floor after reports the place was regularly used by more than 20 squatters. After the fire was extinguished at 7.40pm fire crews cleared the building of smoke using fans and fortunately found no one to be inside. Ambulance crews and police also attended. Incident commander Tony Gurr, from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, said the fire may have been started accidentally by one of the squatters who then fled. He said: “It's definitely a deliberate fire as they shouldn't have been in there. There was a young girl who told one of our crew that between 20 and 30 people use the building at any one time.†It is believed the fire spread from a mattress which was on a balcony above the disused rink. The Argus has revealed that a six-storey hotel is planned for the site with owners Brighton and Hove City Council expected to confirm a deal with an as yet unnamed developer. The proposal includes an 85-room “high quality†hotel and restaurant and a new pedestrian and bike lane connecting the current cul-de-sac with neighbouring St Nicholas churchyard. http://www.iceskating.org.uk/node/2756

SNACR
These property tycoons sound like nice people. Perhaps we ought to elevate one to the House of Lords so he can advise the government.

three pint princess
Michael Lanitis owns the building, his Brother in law Mr Chistodoulides lives there as a caretaker. Lanitis offers to sell the building for 2 Million to Thanos Papalexis, the son of a shipping magnate. Thanos Papalexis puts the site on the market even though he hasn't bought it yet An unamed buyer offered £2.3 million, with a £1 million deposit, if he could complete the purchase from Lanitis within days. Just before contracts are exchanged Papalexis and his men murder the caretaker, then Papalexis exchanges and makes 300K for the second sale. So why didn't he just either leave the caretaker on site and have Unnamed buyer handle it, or ask Lantis to remove his brother in law as a condition of exchange, or evict Lantis and throw out his posessions and risk a fine and a court case on the tenancy rights of caretakers.
