New Aids Like Virus In China - Spreading

Recommended Posts

RSOE Link

A new infectious disease is spreading in large areas of Mainland China. Symptoms are similar to AIDS but it spreads faster between family members, even via bodily fluids like saliva. Mr. Lin from Yunnan Province caught a disease last May, unlike anything he had seen before. "This disease destroys immunity cells just like AIDS. The lowest amount of immunity cells of some patients is only 200, mine is 400. The doctor couldn't find many antibodies, so he called it 'Fear of AIDS' disease." Preliminary research shows that patients have symptoms of fatigue, chronic diarrhea, swollen lymph nodes, and weakened immunity. But doctors cannot find any sign of the HIV virus. "A huge number of people caught the nameless virus but the doctors cannot make a thorough check. So they make a conclusion that it's a 'Fear of AIDS' disease. The symptoms are very much like those of AIDS."

Just when you thought it was safe again...

China has some horrendous pollution/contamination problems, which no one is too keen to look at health effects of.

Yes but it will be the world economic powerhouse.

The size of population will cause it's own drag, same with India.

China has some huge issues which a closed secret system cannot address. To tackle the pollution will make China less competitive meaning job losses, meaning the rulers will become unpopular.

However not tackling the issue creates a whole host of other issues which will make the leadership unpopular.

i think they have caught a deadly bought of boredom.

i know, i caught it ages ages whilst waiting for my life to arrive and it nearly killed me.

its starts of with alot of doing the same thing day in day out, usually associated with pressing the F5 key alot, and is followed by more of the same for years and years, with fatigue, chronic diahreas and swollen limp nodes. and your hair falls out and your teeth drop out.

More than 20,000 people with HIV are unaware they are carrying the virus and are infecting thousands of others, setting a devastating health “timebombâ€, medical experts have warned.

Senior doctors have accused the Department of Health of failing to take the spread of HIV seriously and neglecting to test enough people in high-risk groups, including gay men and heterosexual black Africans.

HIV specialists say they are seeing people in clinics with full-blown Aids who have no idea they have been carrying the virus. They now want all sexually active people to be routinely offered an HIV test.

The Lancet medical journal has published an editorial accusing ministers of an “appalling failure to tackle HIV†and of having “no credible strategy to diagnose and care for those living with, but unaware of, HIV in Britainâ€.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA), the government’s health watchdog, warned that about 77,000 people in the UK have HIV but 21,000 of these do not know they are infected. In 2007, the number of infections through heterosexual contact increased to 960, up from 540 in 2003.

Doctors warn that a third of people with HIV are being diagnosed when their virus is advanced. One London hospital recently treated two teenage sisters, one of whom was pregnant, infected with HIV from the same man. Hospitals are also concerned about men who are diagnosed with HIV but abscond before they can be treated.

They called on the government to take testing more seriously, warning that an A&E target to treat patients within four hours meant people with early symptoms of HIV were not being tested in emergency rooms because of time pressure.

Dr Phillip Hay, reader in HIV medicine at St George’s hospital in Tooting, south London, said testing for the virus should be routine to stop its spread through unprotected sex.

He said: “We have identified some people who have infected multiple individualsâ€, including couples “where there is a big difference in age between an older adult and a teenager. All men and women accessing medical care should be routinely offered a testâ€.

And in the Times today we have this story.

Sounds pretty bad. I am not out of work at the moment though. So I will have to give the benefits a miss. A nurse round does sound pleasant though... ;)

HIV is no problem. I know how to make it extremely unlikely that I will ever get it.

I don't need any help from the medical profession for this one, thanks, please concentrate on treating Cancer, Dementia and things I have a chance of getting.

The original source for the RSOE alert seems to be http://english.ntdtv.com/ntdtv_en/ns_china...8526048776.html. an American website that is biased towards China.

No secondary source has been found in the China press by people who are constantly tracking disease outbreaks. Pending any further information the consensus of opinion is that it's strictly in the 'rumour box'. We'll keep an eye on it but at this stage feel it is something about nothing.

I'll post any further info should it become available for those who are interested.
