U.s. Unemployment Now Over 20%

Recommended Posts

Officially its not even 10%.

That's because it's a standard ILO measure of those who are "actively seeking employment". It's not really much of a secret

My longer term prediction is 40% unemployment by 2020. Based on the oldschool method of calculating unemployment which seems closer to the shadowstats way of measuring.

I think that 40% of humans will be obselete by 2020 compared to computers, industrial robots, increased efficiency, farming equipment etc.. So government policy besides non-job creation or regulated mandatory human workers I don't think will change the situation much.

For most of human history the challenge has been a shortage of labour. If only we had more farm labourers we could grow more, if only we had excess workers we could manufacture more. Thats not true in 2009. The limitation on production is usually the size of the consumer market, not a technical inability or lack of labour.

2020?

these robots you talk of , do they require copper wiring and oil to produce?

the world will return to a lower tech agrarian society , consuming fewer resources cos there are fewer about

simple as

20% unemployment by 2011 (official figures) , unofficial will be at 38% by then

Actually a Human Being can be extremely efficient energy wise when doing manual labour as compared to a machine, that is provided they don't drive to work. Even more efficient if thier diet is low on the consumption of meat.

And the banks stress test took a figure of 9% which even the official figure has breached.

with respect, there is 80% employed, way above the stress test level of 9%.

Think about this then 1/3 of all 16-25 yearolds in the UK are now unemployed....what does this tell you about the future for this country. Worst place in Europe for young people recession or not.

our local paper shop is crying out for paper boys and girls. Lazy people should get off their bottoms, get a job and a loan as soon as they are able...the cream of our youth do this every year, they knuckle down to their studies and get a decent size student loan.....

the rest are lazy whingers.
