Whats The Point Of A Trouser Press?

Recommended Posts

by the time you line the trousers up so that you dont accidentally press in creases, you might as well have ironed them, i just dont see what use they are.

plus how do you press the top part with the waist + pockets, use an iron?

what a waste of time, just a hotel room 'compulsory' accessory + nothing more as far as i can see.

pls educate me if i'm wrong

Don't they run at a much lower temprature than an iron, reducing the risk of burning?

You must have way too much free time if this is what you sit around thinking about, as, for that matter, must I, for trying to answer it.

stops your trousers going shiny through ironing.

Not relevant to most of us these days because:

1 - we don't wear that type of trouser

2 - if we do we dont take enough care of our appearance to press them anyway - its whats inside that counts.

3 - they don't last long enough to need pressing anyway

Use it to make an English Breakfast in your hotel room.

Wrap everything in tin foil and put them in the trouser press.

They re very handy if you stay in a hotel where they do not switch on the heating - you can sit right next to it and if you close your eyes you can imagine the warmth.

Weren't they:

1. A safety device to have instead of irons?

2. An 'extra' that they used to charge extra for having one in your hotel room.

I seem to recall in the 1970s people use to dream of owning one. Didn't they used to be prizes on the Generation Game?
