yellerkat
From the OP's link: “Given that the U.K. rating is already on a knife edge, the case for a downgrade would become much stronger,†said Danny Gabay, director of Fathom Consulting in London and a former economist for the government and the Bank of England. “The plans as currently set out are barely credible.†Never mind, HPI will save us all. eightiesgirly
I don't want to go to bed Same here, I am totally KN ackered, but this is great stuff. I do wonder if Brown will appoint Balls and spend like there is no tommorow in the putrid hope of making himself more popular? Or worse, maybe a scorched earth type thing? He's spiteful enough. huw
As recently as May 28, Balls told reporters he was “confident we will continue to see real increases in spending for health and education†and that his strategy is “about showing where your values and instincts lie." As usual it's not about doing the right thing, solving the problem, re-balancing the economy, or anything that will make any real difference. It's about showing the electorate what he wants them to see. This is so ingrained into New Labour's thinking that they mouth the formulae automatically -- it's never that they failed, just that they failed to get their message across. dances with sheeple
Ed Balls for chancellor is the final farcical insult to the country. Bringing back Sid James and Kenneth Williams for the cabinet would be more realistic. Brown surely has the revolver, I`ll run out and get him the whiskey. self
IF, and it's a VERY big if, the local election results aren't as bad as are feared, then I would guess that he clings on for at least a few more months. He can't survive another few days like yesterday.
