Obviously, with work, I trawl round endless different shops. I'II go into Asda in Merthyr Tydfil and be disgusted by the chaviness of it all but, similarly, I'II go into Waitrose in some lah-di-dah area and find it, in contrast, nauseatingly middle class.

I don't like anyone either.

Another BBC Link

As a general rule of thumb, farmers get f*+k all, processors such as DFoB get a tiny bit more than f*+k all and the supermarkets get the rest. Whilst selling to the public as a loss leader.

Average milk price paid to farmers is 24.37p/litre.

The milk I bought the other day was 67.34/litre

There was a report showing the full breakdown if I can find it.

Also, I think the cost of production last year was around 28p/litre. Due to rising input costs such as fuel, fertilizer and feed costs.

You should avoid falling into the trap of hating everybody.

No - hating everybody removes the taint of discrimination, and is easier. It's a win-win.

For the record, Sainsbury's in Tooting has a good blend of customers (and whoever is in control of the sound-system deserves a bonus - Flaming Lips singing "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" at lunch today, followed by "Ballad of a Thin-man" - woo-hoo!).

A couple of years out of date but:

http://www.rabdf.co.uk/DynamicContent/Docu...rice%202007.pdf

Page 11 - Min. price required 21.32p/litre. Farmer gets paid 17.90p/litre.

Yeah. Basically the supermarkets say what they will pay and if the farmers can't make a profit from that then they go bust. End of.
