BLEARS, SMITH ETC RESIGNING FROM CABINET

Recommended Posts

But why would Hazel Blears' resignation weaken his position?

The way I see it is that she, and everyone else, has jumped before the y were pushed. This has prevented Gordon from excercising his 'authority' from being able to sack any of them. Sacking people would make it look like he's in control.........however, he isn't.

Has anyone seen any canvassers for any of the parties?

Round here there are some LibDem posters, plus a few of the usual predictable Conservative ones put up by rich farmers in their fields alongside roads.

But no labour ones at all, anywhere.

Darling took on Browns complete mess.Darling is a decent fairly straight man.Brown should defend Darling 100% as he tries to deal with Browns recession.

By not supporting him Darling has a choice.Let him just be sacked.Or stand up and tell the truth.Iv done my best but the public finances were left in such a mess by Brown i was unable to do my job.

If Brown does sack him,i just cant see Darling kiss goodbye to his political life when it was Browns fault.Hes the key.

I'll accept that Darling is a decent man if you accept that you are stupid?

At this rate Harridian Harmmen will be suing McDoomed for not having enough Wimmin at the top table, big glass ceiling at the top table in politics.

 yes this is all rather sexist.

Welcome :)

Unfortunately I can't see her stepping down as an MP, so she'll live off our taxes for a very long time. It's a pretty safe Labour seat.

I think she's useless as well. I think she'd make a very good primary school deputy headmaster, she is however completely out of her depth with politics.

A perfect example of the Peter Principle "It holds that in a hierarchy, members are promoted so long as they work competently. Sooner or later they are promoted to a position at which they are no longer competent (their "level of incompetence")"

Or perhaps even the Dilbert Principle - "“leadership is nature's way of removing morons from the productive flow.â€

The vindictive little minx...........I almost feel sorry for Brown. Can't wait for PMQs

yep, she knew she'd have to leave some time ago and is now making sure she has the last laugh.

Perfect timing from the midget

so, lets get this straight

she resigns to withdraw to grass root politics

Why, is she along with the other criminals within the goverment not being criminaly investigated?

this hiding away from the truth, that is that parliment is no longer functional is unaacepacble to the principles of democracy

This is contemptable that they are still operating and taking salary from taxpayers.

I do hope that the next governemnet instigate a criminal investgation as a matter of urgency

I agree. And Gb had the cheek to say this in PMQs (according to the BBC)

Mr Brown says the government is working to clean up MPs' expenses and end the recession and says all sides should acknowledge the pressures some MPs and their families have been facing.

Some of them should be facing much more pressure.

Does anyone else find themselves really not giving a gnat's chuff about house prices when there's a chance that this snivelling imbecile of a man might be consigned to the dustbin of history soon?

It's a lot like a soviet purge. The next chapter is the removing from history of all these dissidents. Expect to see thousands of copies of Photoshop delivered to Whitehall.

"uncle Gordski"

"Yes my little socialist friend"

"Why is there so much free space in all your photographs?"

"It's just extra room to house my ego"

Not really: Politicians come and go anyway, they bother you for a few years, only to go and retire on their ill gotten gains while another takes their place. Whereas my own little reality, and it's interaction with those close to me, is all I really have, and it lasts all my life. And house prices and the effect they have on everything else are a big part of that.

I'm not saying I am not pleased at the thought of some of them paying a little for their crimes, though.

What if nobody accepts offers of cabinet posts when Brown reshuffles?

It could happen. Accepting the offer of a cabinet post in a collapsing government could well be a bad career move.

I am not sure I understand what is going on.

I take it for granted that Gordon Brown is very unpopular, especially as Labour face a disaster tomorrow in the polls.

But why would Hazel Blears' resignation weaken his position?

Surely, someone who appears to have their noses in the trough, perhaps even have committed fraud, resigning from the cabinet, surely that would help Brown?

And if I wanted to strengthen my position, I would like to hear lots of proven wrongdoers and crooks all speaking against me. If Blears was praising Brown, then I could understand that he would be worried.

Interestingly enough, I reckon that whoever succeeds Brown, might actually be worth a punt to win the next election. The economy is looking as if it is performing way better than expected, and who is to say that wont continue for the next few months? Can anyone tell me the odds on Labour to win the next election? If those odds are long enough, it might well be worth a punt.
