Back with a linky in a mo.

(Breaking on News 24)

This is the end now for Brown and Labour.Half the cabinet resigns in two days. They know their vote is going to collapse tomorrow.

We now have no government.Only Brown. The Labour party itself is about to collapse. They will split right down the middle, the left blaming new labour, new labour blaming the left.

The deficit will crack soon.Darling wont go without laying the blame where it lies. With Brown.I think Darling has done the best he could from what Brown left him.Darling ,if he is sacked will be the man who brings Brown down.

If and when he makes that speech, the government collapses and we will have an election.

This cant go on,much longer and Labour will cease to exist as a party.

This is the biggest political event of 100 years.Brown has destroyed Labour. The Libdems are now the opposition.

This is the end of socialism in the UK.Cameron will have a huge majority.I would think the situation will be so bad he will make a very shrewd political move.Hel put a couple of Libdems in his cabinet. That way he highlights Labour destroyed the economy pushes them out of the equation....forever.

Our whole electoral and parliamentary process is rotten to the core, is it any wonder it produces corrupt MP's.

We need to throw all the current bunch of MP's out of parliament and replace them with non-aligned Independent MP's who vote on each issue in accordance with their conscience and the well being of their constituents.

Party Politics has failed us miserably.

Earlier this morning before the Blears news came through, the Bloomberg tv ticker, was reading ""Brown may enter trap that ensnared Thatcher, with plans to replace Darling."

Fool me once, shame on ......

As Finkelstein said last night, Labour have a window of opportunity - the best thing they can do is throw Gordon out of it. He's toast.

A bit more from the BBC...

BBC political editor Nick Robinson said the timing of her resignation, on the eve of important elections, appeared to be a "deliberate" attempt to "destabilise" Mr Brown, which had left him "fighting for his political life".

He said Ms Blears had been furious about Mr Brown's criticisms of her expenses claims and he expected her to call for the prime minister to stand down following this week's elections.

"The next 24 or 48 hours will determine whether we have a new prime minister," added Mr Robinson...

...She told the BBC News channel: "Frankly, the game is up for Gordon Brown. We are seeing the dying days of this Labour government."

Loving it!

The reason why these people are resigning is to try to distance themselves from Brown and the coming disaster in the local and Europian elections

in a hope that they will return when the Labour party tries to rebuild itself.

Thats why Blears emphasied her commitment to the Labour party in her resignation speech and did not mention Brown at all.

Darling took on Browns complete mess.Darling is a decent fairly straight man.Brown should defend Darling 100% as he tries to deal with Browns recession.

By not supporting him Darling has a choice.Let him just be sacked.Or stand up and tell the truth.Iv done my best but the public finances were left in such a mess by Brown i was unable to do my job.

If Brown does sack him,i just cant see Darling kiss goodbye to his political life when it was Browns fault.Hes the key.

The end cannot come soon enough for this vile bunch of self-serving, lying, crooks. I really hope the Labour party is wiped from politics at least until I am gone. And I hoping to be around for quite a while yet.

When Bevan and Attlee drew up the welfare state they both warned the left.Welfare must never ever encourage people to live on it.It must only be a safety net for people. They knew a welfare state was what the left must deliver. They also knew if a Labour government ever let it become a way of life then it would fail.

Brown should of read his Labour history from two towering politicians.

He has destroyed Labour by what Attlee warned, and in doing so has destoryed the welfare state.

Good riddence you old hag!

She was the only person in politics more repulsive than Brown.

There is a God.

If there was a god she would have been struck by lightning already, many times over

But then again the devil may be protecting her

I don't really care if he's a nice guy or not - it makes no difference

The simple fact is that he's not up to the job...not by a long way. I'd rather have a complete git in charge of our finances, someone whom everyone hates, but who can grab the issue by the throat and shake it until we get results. The decision on who holds the public purse strings should not be a popularity contest.

Darling looks like a frightened puppy with a gammy leg... please someone, put him out of his misery before his hair goes even whiter!
