General Motors To File For Bankruptcy Tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Should have called themselves General Motors Bank!

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/busi...icle6396026.ece

Alright then!

The trouble starts....673,000 private sector pensions soon to become state funded. Scary, huge numbers, and there are going to be VERY SERIOUS repercussions.

Investors will be wiped out.

It will be amusing to see what kind of ridiculous business model the new iteration of the state run GM will work to. Mmmm, socialist built commie-cars right in the heart of America.

Its not the end of the world - it will still trade, albeit restructured. A deal is close to getting done with Magna. I guess they should start making some cars people actually want to buy.

Euro and American GM will restructure differently. You are referring to the Opel/Magna deal which is a completely different matter.

Which member of HPC has the "debt is real" signature again?

Clearly isn't a GM bond holder. Or a lender to a US sub-prime borrower.

I don't know which poster it is, but the quote comes from Mervyn King:

...house prices are a matter of opinion but debt is real...

I would've expected better from him, unless his quote was pre-Argentinian, Russian etc etc sovereign defaults.

Except in the US where you walk away from your debt and leave it with the property...
