Cockington Village Torquay

Recommended Posts

Any one who has been to the village does know what a tourist trap it is, those who have not visited, it is a thatched medieval Village. Planning restrictions are tight and there are really only about 40 dwellings in the village.

Late last year I viewed a largish house with a barn attatched, surprised at it's price tag of £320,000 as it had previously been on the market for £500,00 +. It turned out to be a repo and the agents accepted £270,000, so nearly 50% down.

Now on the market another repo- 2 bed barn conversion, not in the best spot with an asking price of £125,000 purchased in 2006 for £180,000.

That has to be a high level of repos in such a small area, especially an area where holiday lets give very high yields and an ordinary rental would be well sought after.

I know cockington well, my fowks live in one of the Victorian houses on vicarage road......he scouted out the flat above and said it was really no more than a bolt hole / holiday let.....so it was madness at 180,00

I am tempted to move back down that area myself ...cockington would be nice ...any links to the one that went at 270,000?

just out of interest? Was it in the village opposite Rose cafe or up by the Drum?

Hi, the £270,000 was further towards the Seafront near Landscove House, it's the one on the road with the big barn attatched, before Rose Cottage. The small one, still on the market is just further from the Drum before you get to the old stables, it almost overlooks the car park overflow field. details with Bradleys EA's.

The big dark horse in the carpark overflow this winter was my boy, if your down our way bring him an apple!

I always keep an eye on the area, so you can pm me. H
