Mikhail Liebenstein
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8023882.stm Vote of confidence next.
sunonmars
How does Brown lose a vote with a maj of 60. Its a disgrace to bring this vote at all to the commons, it was a moral disgrace. Brown is finished, once you start losing votes like this, the govt starts to crumble because the backbenchers are in revolt.
General Melchett
Vote of confidence next. And miss out the bodies and rubbish piling up in the streets and the calling in of the IMF? If we dont have these, how will the youngsters have any real idea about what a Labour government leads to?
Guest anorthosite
Clegg & Cameron standing side by side outside the commons talking about it. Clegg is actually looking like a credible leader - Cameron's thanking him time and time again for raising the issue.
bomberbrown
Gordon Brown said earlier he wanted justice for the Gurkhas but any policy change had to be affordable. Whilst conveniently turning a blind eye to the millions of economic migrants from all around the world here in the UK already costing us god knows how much??? Pr1ck! sunonmars
The great thing is, that Brown looks so so petty and vindictive on this, he looks like he couldnt have given a sh£t about the Gurkhas and the military is taking note. The public can see Brown does give two stuffs about anyone and that image of those old men with Joanna, Cameron and Clegg outside the houe of commons just cost Brown a mass of votes. Thats naughty! Shocking though, labour finally gets off their backside to take a stand against unfettered immigration but manage to set upon the one group of people that 99% of the population would welcome with gratitude. More to do with the fact that if they stay here then they will have to be given a full pension just the same as a british soldier, rather than being packed off home to nepal with a fraction of the ammount. Truly disgusting!

Clegg is actually looking like a credible leader - Cameron's thanking him time and time again for raising the issue. And people think the Lib-Dems would prop up a Labour government in a hung parliament?.Not a chance.Theyd back the Tories. In return for scrapping ID cards,a possible reform of council tax and green spending. Clegg has played a very good game.He has taken the Libs where they should be,away from the left to the centre.Even a bit right of centre.I wouldnt be at all surprised if a role for one or two Libs were found in a Tory government. Cable city reform?. They both have the same agenda.Wipe out Labour and make the Libs the opposition longer term. That would suit both parties. We could see a huge change in the political landscape post election. ccc
Now if you want a laugh, go to iPlayer and watch the Daily Politics and Nick Robinson saying that labour would win the vote You see PMQ today ? Never seen so much disgust and derision - from all sides. Those sitting around Broon looks positively embarrassed. A few chaps from his own side stood up to give him a bollocking. Actually good stuff for a change. Politicians trying to do the right thing for once. Or maybe they were just appearing to do that. Either way I wasn't disgusted with the MP's in the Commons today. Unusual.

I do wonder sometimes....lose this election and let cameron take the heat for the state of the economy and then get themselves voted back in later on....wondered the same about if the opposition let obama win for the same reason, let him take the heat for 4 years and then get back in..... So presumably you will complain about Cameron voting to let so many of these Gurkha economic migrants (who will cost us god knows how much) into the country? Can't have it both ways. If you don't like immigrants thay all have to count - and so you agree with Brown on the Gurkhas.

ccc
If you ever go to Nepal you do actually see this sort of thing all over the place. I was hiking and everyone was being so careful to get the right boots one etc... Almost every local we saw wandering past was carrying some huge load and wearing just flip flops !! And all this at 3-4000M altitude. Lovely people and formidable loyal soldiers. Never heard anyone ever say a bad word about them. If one of these guys has served for 10 years in the Army and is being refused entry to the UK. Disgrace. It really is.

Truly disgusting! I was in a pub a few years ago in Darlington.A group of Gurkhas came in.In suits looking very smart,on a days shopping on leave from Catterick. Some local chavs decided to give a few racist comments.A group of blokes just back from the oil riggs at the bar on hearing this put down their pints, picked up the chavs and slung them out the door with a few slaps, appologised to the gurkhas and bought them all a drink. The British public wont allow Brown to do this, end of story.
