A Pleasant Read For Sunday Morning

Recommended Posts

Wow. Some generally realistic views from the Times on the prognosis for the property market. I never expected that.

The comments from readers are always interesting. The social mood seems to be in favour of a return to affordable houses as a place to live. Of course, the HPC members could be the early commentators on the story and stacking the deck so far ......

I particularly like the last paragraph:

"Nobody ever rings a bell at the bottom of the market, but it seems a safe bet that buyers are not going to be in a worse position in six months to a year's time."

The very, very low IR we have now may well last another 6 months so anyone after a fixed rate mortgage will still get a good deal. How quickly the Interest Rates start going up again, well...........

That was a refreshing read.

Personally I believe there will be another boom though. And frankly I'd feel cheated if there wasn't one after I finally buy a property! haha

Don't rely on it. We'll have long-term downward pressure as a generation of property owners retire and cash in.
