Looks like the 3 day week is coming:-

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/polit...ek-1515307.html

Mike

Tens of thousands of businesses are already planning to scale back working hours this year in an effort to stay afloat. But as the country comes to terms with the reality of a recession, it emerged that the Government is looking at compensating employees, through their firms – thereby drawing comparisons with the shutdowns of the 1970s.

It's lucky that Gordon kept control of expenditure during the good times, meaning we have the resources now to do such things. Just imagine how badly off we'd be if we hadn't had a prudent Chancellor for all those years.

Are there Power Cuts to come, nobody tells me anything.

Apparently EU regulations will force several power stations to close down in the near future, so you'll even get the power cuts to make you feel like it's really a Labour government :).

Actually, it's worse than that, because quite a few power stations are supposed to be closed in the next five years or so due to old age and there's nothing to replace them; Labour have been letting Britain's power generation infrastructure wear out while pushing nonsense like 'wind power' to funnel taxpayers' money to their mates.

  • Conservatives are in power with a landslide victory
  • First budget is an austerity budget. Massive spending cuts possibly due to IMF intervention.
  • Britain is frequently referred to as "the sick man of Europe", as Europe is recovering much more rapidly than Britain.
  • The war in Afghanistan drags on. Pakistan's government has possibly collapsed and clashes with NATO troops are frequent. Obama declares Pakistan part of the "axis of evil".
  • Unemployment is decreasing for the first time in years.
  • Blackouts are becoming a feature of everyday life, as Britains generating capacity is reduced and power distribution infrastructure begins to fail.
  • All interaction with the government requires an ID card.
  • Support for the BNP and other extreme parties has doubled.
  • Britain's prisoner population has increased by a third.
  • Royal Navy Future Aircraft carrier project delayed indefinitely due to budget cuts. Surface fleet is further reduced and steps are under way to merge Europe's naval forces.
  • Another major domestic terrorist attack occurs in the UK or the USA. It is linked to Pakistan's intelligence service.
  • Far fewer young people go to university.
  • Food takes a much larger chunk of family income.
  • Inner city rioting and civil unrest is frequent.

It will take a few years for the mess to be sorted out...but in the short to medium term...

  • .Employment reaches 5 million and counting
  • .More repossessed Sheeples sleeping on park benches and in doorways
  • .Real poverty as opposed to relative poverty becomes the norm
  • .Pensioners die in their thousands due to cold and/or starvation
  • .Food at double the current price
  • .Wages at half the current level
  • .Crime levels go through the roof - burglars report record profits
  • .The last pub to close is photographed in the 'Sun'
  • .Supermarket shelves always half empty but report record takings
  • .Graduates unable to find even McJobs...become agitated and are given free gripe water
  • .Electrical power rationed
  • .Ex Woolworths lady heard to say "What a complete f*ck-up"
  • .Politicians increase their salaries and expenses
  • .Prisoners get three hot meals a day and a nice comfy warm bed but still complain
  • .Chavs live it up large on White Lightning and other things at tax payers expense
  • .Illegal immigrants get nice council houses and lots and lots of benefits

But...there is light at the end of the long, dark tunnel....

  • .Robert Mugabe is invited to form a new Government

My thoughts,

Massive unemployment

Inflation

Shortages or fuel and food therefore civil unrest

A rise in land taken over for allotments and therefore an opportunity for the lost generation to learn some serious life skills

Less car ownership so more people not travelling as far or using public transport ( if available) and increased bike usage.

Computer games such as Wi etc teaching folks how to garden and raise chickens and skin a rabbit etc

A demise of BTL and second home ownership

A general lowering, through austerity, of our carbon arseprint and therefore a chance to claim some carbon arseprint tax credits

Prostitution is legalised and regulated

The overall health of the nation improves as all fat cu nts have to get of their fat arses and get on with it

Gordon Brown disappears and is never seen again

And finally, hopefully, fingers crossed in the Dunkirk spirit, communities come together to support and help each other get by, and in the immortal words of Helen Mirren, " We are going to need considerably bigger buns"

I forgot to add;

The Royal family are seen to do not a lot, and failing to capitalise on a sitaution to boost their standing, we eventually become a republic. The Queen is now the Queen of Australia and New Zealand but not of the UK anymore........:lol::lol:

unemployment between 6-8 million.

split parliament.

bnp support gone

economy cars in small numbers.

£ crashed. britain unable to join europe.

banks and property speculators go under

people in aspirational debt go under

the unemployed are used on national projects of importance

a weeks wage will barely cover a family of 4's food and housing.

we will be beaten out of afghanistan. and be not too bothered anyway.

coal mines will reopen for power plants

uk manufacturing will begin to increase

exports will remain static.

imports inflated to high levels will cause shortages.

devaluation of saving wealth.

gold will rocket, as will taxation.

homes will be down 70% of todays prices with no end in sight.

crime will rocket

expect 5 years of this with a further 5 to recover back to 1996 levels.

by 2019 we will just be seeing these green shoots of recovery and a whole new attitude to today.

I can see some of these things happening. And before it's too late, I am thinking of moving, before our currency is worth nothing. I'm actually pretty scared - I don't want to be left in a hell-hole... but I'm in year 2 of a 4 year PhD and don't want to quit that. Feels like I'm boxed in - argh!!

This is serious - what would you do? What are you doing?
