House Price Crash Forum

Recommended Posts

I was in Sainsburys earlier and was surprised to see they are selling a whole range of safes.

just shows you the extent of cash hoarding that's going on.

when all this hoarded cash comes out of hiding the hyper-inflationary collapse is going to be lightening quick

What has selling sofas got to do with cash hoarding?

you are better off just burying the cash in the garden , wrapped in plastic and encased in a plastic container

You obviously never watched them digging the blue peter time capsule up

I've often wondered how big cash actually is.

I've seen £1million in £5 notes, it wasn't a big stack.... although too big for a lot of modern shoe boxes. But how much space does £10k occupy? £50k? £100k?

25,000 in Euro (500 notes) fits in a normal letter envelope and is about 1/2 an inch thick.

£5k in 50s is about the same

£2k in 20s about 1/2 inch

A typical Christmas buscuit tin stuffed full of 20s in bundles holds about 30,000 quid.

50s and 500 Euro notes are really the only way to store cash without being too bulky.

How soon before every out-of-town retail park has its branches of World of Safes, Helisafes and Safe World?
