Tv Reception In W9

Recommended Posts

We moved into a flat in W9 in September which had been vacated by a couple working in the USA. As a bonus we found we had SkyTV, which wasn't mentioned in the contract. Now the landlord (nice chap) has aked if we want to renew the contract at our expense, which we have declined to do. He now says that if we don't we won't be able to get the terrestial channels, as there is no reception in the area. Is this correct? It doesn't sound right to me. Maybe his TV won't pick up terrestial, but I'm sure a portable would.

You can still use the sky dish and box and get the free-to-air channels via that - you don't need to subscribe, you just keep the old viewing card.

Some areas are 'black holes' for analog reception, but you can keep using the sky signal to receive digital telly without needing to pay.

I lived in 3 different flats in 3 years in W9 and I don't remember the TV reception being particularly bad, and that was using an indoor aerial in at least one of the flats.

Firstly, the SKy Box and Dish still work with no subscription to pick up basic TV.

Secondly, why not just check the TV reception yourself? If there is no outside aeriel, but a powered indoor digital aeriel and plug into your freeview box or freeview TV and see if you can tune in a signal. If not then you might want to consider keeping the Sky Box, but as I said no subscription is needed.
