Warning that UK is on brink of depression

BRITAIN is facing an economic depression, one of Scotland's most prominent businessmen has warned, as the government prepares to announce its last-ditch attempt to shore up confidence in the banking industry.
"I don't think putting more capital into the banks is going to work," he said. "Capital is a concept, it's not a hard and fixed amount and it depends on various accounting assumptions."

Quote's from public :

What the government is proposing is a nonsense and will lead the UK into bankruptcy. Even the IMF would baulk at bailing out this mess.

People should be taking to the streets in protest before all of their personal wealth is wiped out, because this is where it is heading. Brown is capturing all of YOUR wealth in a desperate bid to shore up the economy, which won't work. This means the population of the UK will be sold into penury for the next 50 years. STOP HIM NOW!

We have been living in cloud cuckoo land for some time now with the economy founded on mountains of debt and the housing market, therefore a recipe for disaster, and an accident waiting to happen, it could not be sustained. We have Gordon Brown to thank for that, as well as personal greed.

This seems to be the last throw of the dice. Why don't they just say that all debt will be written off, including mortgages and credit card debts, and we start again, That way people will have money in thir pockets to spend. Some banks will go to the wall, but that is where they deserve to be!

 Brown and Darling are as popular as ever it seems. This latest bailout will break them as a political party.

It's over!!

We only have the housing market. Thats our engine for the economy now. Every effort must be used to resuscitate it, at what ever th cost. All our hopes is on this one bet. The writing is on the wall.

regrdless of whats happened today, and the thoguhts of "experts" like the one refered to in the thread, surely we are now changing financial evolution by constant meddling?

Wht is the point of a controlled experiment if one ignores the controls?

So many outside influences are about to hit Gordon's latest little scheme, he is not going to know what day of the week it is by Friday evening- in fact we may well see a resignation if some "unhatched poisons" suddenly hatch.

Not that I know of any, but the poisons know they exist- and hatching is FUN
