Cogs
I originally saw the headline and read "Physics", expected it to be about Quants making use of their degrees in a more constructive manner. Some hope. Bankers and accountants who used to put their faith in spreadsheets and complex formulas are now turning to clairvoyants for guidance. Many have even started taking in job offers and contracts to be analysed. The British Astrological and Psychic Society (BAPS) said it had witnessed a dramatic increase in the demand for readings in the last year – particularly in the last three months. Websites such as thepsychicsociety.co.uk and psychics.co.uk, which also offer psychic readings over the phone, have also reported a significant increase in enquiries. "I've definitely noticed a new trend," said Jayne Wallace, a clairvoyant who works in the Selfridges department store, in central London. "We're getting lots of city workers – particularly men coming in for readings. "A surprising amount of my clients are very high-up, wealthy, important people from within the financial industry. "They might be worried about losing their job or a lot of the time they're asking about whether it's right to get out of the finance industry altogether. Instead its a case of; Blind faith in fairy stories got us into this mess, it just might get us out! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/finance...for-advice.html Maily Telegraph trouble making of course but quite amusing. "There are no atheists in foxholes" springs to mind. Poor old banksters eh. I have to question the predictive powers of the spirit world though: William Hooper, 39, a former City trader, said he gave up his job on the advice of his psychic, Robin Lown, to become a property developer in Cyprus at the end of last year. But with a name like that no wonder City traders like to take his advice

Guest sillybear2
At least with seers you have the advantage of knowing before hand that their advice is a mix of bull$hit, supposition and lies. With quants you only find that out after you've been on your hands and knees begging Gordy for a fresh deposit

headwindow
do what thou will and it harm none.shame the city boys dont have that creed eh ? Why doesn't a psychic simply win the $1m on offer; http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/1m-challenge.html Then invest it in the stock market? You know, they say there is a 24 hour, multi-billion $ psychic experiment taking place in the Nevada desert. It's called Vegas.

Dave Spart
Its not psychics you need working for the banks; its decent, honest people who place integrity, decency and truth above personal gain. Surely the psychics failed their job interviews by default. If they were any good, they'd have known the Credit Crunch was going to happen and mentioned it someone. Anyone remember seeing these buggers on TV? Nope. All those who knew a crisis was coming came here to HPC and we had a spokesman representing us in the media. Have the banks really jacked in their stochastic mathematics in favour of ouija boards? Its f*cking unbelievable. They ignored our protests and dismissed us as cranks before the event. And now its happened they call in the occultists. FFS.
