We all know it started in America.

LONDON, (AFP) - Prime Minister Gordon Brown told British banks Saturday they must own up to the extent of their bad assets, because it's the right thing to do, amid more reports his government could launch a fresh bailout of the struggling sector.

Fixed the sentence now so it's even more on message than before.

Ponzi Brown must have found a huge stash of money somewhere because he manages to keep making these policy announcements and talking of spending billions.

This mess is too big for any govt to clean up.

Why can't Brown apply the same rule to himself, his government and the country?

Because we are not ruled by people who are true, fair, moral or any other righteous word you can think of. They care about power and its retention - nothing else matter to them - they would sell the country down the pan if that would keep them in power. That much is obvious.

Brown has to nationalise all the banks.

If some try and stay independent and go their own way the only way the Brown plan (to piss more money up the wall by directly dictating how much money the lenders throw out their doors) will work is if there are none left to complain about unfair practices, an unlevel playing field and other banks being subsidised direct from the taxpayer.

When I say "work" the short term aim to flood enough money into the system to give him the best chances of a re-election might work. But, it will have horrendous ramifications later on.

That the Bankrupt of England are going along with this is a sign of their total contempt for the public and their position as a non-partisan controller of the money supply.

If this is what that blind nobend calls saving the world then I feel very sorry for him

Well they do believe in transparency, they just never specified the degree of transparency. We hoped for 100% and got 0.001%

Better to let some go to the wall, protect a few stronger ones and protect deposits. No point in taxpayers money taking on the massive liabilities of the RBS ilk. Sounds like Brown has just realised that he has been sold a pup. The taxpayer is liable for many billions of losses, and more bailouts will be needed.

American banks are sitting on 850.000 repossessed homes that are on shown on their balanced sheets as assets at over inflated values.

They dare not sell them for fear of realising massive losses by realising their true value!

How long before UK banks will be doing the same?

This time Gordon Brown is right. As well as disclosing toxic debt, banks and other large organisations must be made to end 'creative accounting' such as over-valuing assets - particularly companies involved in construction and property investment. We thought the west had a capitalist economy, but it looks more like a Maxwellist economy with each passing day.

Maybe Brown should also stop lying about the state of the public finances and all those hidden pension and PFI liabilities.

He's just as crooked as any of them.

Unless he sends in forensic auditors and police to examine their accounts, this is just well-spun propaganda from Brown to placate the masses about the coming bailout

you are a nutter son. you've backed the wrong horse, shown yourself up by making lame youtube videos putting across your half-arsed views. and now you are posting them on here - where some bright people are about to tear you a new one.

you'd be a troll if you hadn't taken so much time to make those videos. but its obvious that you actually buy into the BS you spout. if i were you i'd try and MEW a little bit more cash to buy the mother of all tin hats. you are going to need one. enjoy the ride.

Just had a peep ....Brown looking at the olympic park being constucted with his finger about to be inserted 2 inches into his nose.

The olympic park ....yet another hole that needs filling with more and more £billions of taxpayers cash

+1

The true state of our finances is DIRE, and getting worse at an alarming rate. Govt spends over £6 for every £5 in tax receipts.

Any private sector CEO who did that wouldnt last 6 weeks.

FOR GOD'S SAKE BROWN JUST GO

"The right thing to do"..

The right thing for Broon to do is shoot himself in the face - live on TV.

Make it pay per view. Use the proceeds to pay off some of this countries humongous debt.

Isn't part of the quasi intellectual arrogance and fantasy of many politicians who can't function in the real world that they know better than we do so what we see as hypocrisy is actually just our lack of understanding of the complexity of the situation?

Come next election, I'm going to vote for the biggest party that isn't the Labour party - that'l be the Tories.

However if there was massive support for a new government, run by normal people, perhaps even HPCers, I would vote for them. Sick, sick, sick of this government and all other money grabbing, back stabbing parasites.
