House Repossessed In Error

Daily Wail

Executive summary: Bloke arrives home from work to find that the locks have been changed on his house and a notice stuck on his front door stating that it had been repo-ed. The bailiffs had done the wrong house, thanks to an admin error by the building society, and should have done another one in the same street.

I also wonder how long it'll be before an incident like this ends in violence.

The banks are obviously having a run on wrongly repossessing the houses of odd looking people.

P.S Ref the bank boss who tried to weasel out of paying the full amount of compensation - I'd like to tie him up and shoot him with a blunderbuss filled with me own shite.

Err.. That is all...

A friend of mine is a managing agent for a block of flats in South Norwood.

A lessee had sub let his flat and the flat was to be repossessed. His tenant the night before the eviction went out and changed the numbers on the doors. The bailiffs then repossessed a flat being renovated by a young couple about to be married who were not living at the flat.

Staggering how little compensation the guy got in the one case a poxy £3,000 for coming back to changed locks and strangers having been in to turf his belongings out on the street. Should be a mandatory fine of £10k plus any costs of actual material losses on top.

3k compo's sod all when you see the hefty pay-outs people get for the slightest thing. He should go to the Doc saying he's utterly traumatised, suffering huge stress, and now can't work because he's scared to leave the house unattended and screw the Halifux for some serious wonga.

There`s a block of housing association flats near me and one of them has the same number as my house. The scummy tenants are always doing a runner and leaving loads of unpaid bills behind so I`ve got quite used to bailiffs, the police, etc. trying to get into my house. The tenants also seem to be incapable of cooking anything as the pizza-delivery boy rings the doorbell most evenings, how stupid and lazy do you have to be to pay £10 for a pizza?

Homer: Well, good luck finding it, because I'm going to take the numbers off tonight!

Bank Manager: Well, we'll look for the house with no numbers.

Homer: Then I'll take off the numbers on my neighbor's house.

Bank Manager: So, well then we'll look for the house next to the house with no numbers.

Homer: [thinks for a bit] All right, you'll get your money.
