Let's Get Down To What's Really Wrong

Recommended Posts

Peter Oborne has been writing in The Daily Hate lately - as is his wont.

Odd thing - I agree with about 50% of what he says and the rest is usually Thatcherite off the wall. (IMO of course.) But he had an article the other day which you can't really fault.

Socialist Governments have always failed because they are good at spending money but hopeless at creating the wealth to pay for it.

It is quite staggering that this Government is made up only of lawyers, media wallies (if that is the plural of wally) and career politicians. Besides John Prescott - long since sidelined and dubious claim to fame - there isn't anyone with the faintest experience or connection with business or industry.

Is it any wonder we are in this mess?

Edit - bold to flag up premise for discussion

Replace them all with a Facebook App. Then people can choose for themselves what they want to happen.

There is nothing wrong,

We have boom and bust, bust being the current phase.

resistance is futile.

The Government will be assimilated.

you cant single out gordon without including the 900,000 BTL mortgage holders, local authority planners and the media who promoted this housing and credit bubble to a proportion that seemed almost an attempt to brainwash.

oh it was all going so well until it all went wrong, yet ALL these people like to push the blame and their own greedy expectations onto just one man. get rid of gordon, the parasitic system and its occupants will still remain.

This era seems to be dominated by women's tennis ..... A bit boring watching for 15 years waiting for an accidental nipple slip .....

I beg to differ. In industry we train people. The older and wiser heads have been through econmic cycles and we use the good times to prepare for the bad i.e by being flexible in costs, not having too many debts and a cash pile in the bank. Whenever we go through good times you can see the juniors all exicited this is how business is and it will never end. THen thud. The wiser old heads have seen and experienced it before and swing into action to prepare for the worst whilst the juniors are like rabbits in headlights.

The problem with Gordon is that he has never exeperienced this and I believe that he felt that he really had single handedly stopped the economic cycle and boom would go on forever. Hence he borrowed and spent and borrowed some more and spent and borrowed even more.

As the orginal poster said the reason the country is so much up the creek is because this govt has no real world experience and is now led by bascially a nutter who has no experience of the real world at all and is self delusional in his ability to stop boom and bust with guess what even more debt and spending.

I can see, in the distance, not too far, the IMF a waving, a beckoning.

So can I.

I can also see a disaster movie script documenting this government's stupidity. Failing that a comedy, with Steve Martin as Darling and Robert DeNiro as Brown (well, you have to get the gals in to the cinema somehow).

I hope they have enough money after bailing out the GIIPS (I understand that PIIGS is offensive to said nations).

Socialist govts have no idea that you don't necesarily get good value when you spend public money. Most of the socialist MP's don't even appear to care about this.

They seem to have no clue that to get the money to spend you have to tax, and that the taxes MUST come from the most efficient parts of the economy (because everyone else is not making enough money to be taxed on). This means that fast growing parts of the economy cannot grow as fast as they should.

They don't realise that efficiency of spending gets less and less the more you spend on a particular problem.

They don't realise that their interventionist actions sometimes work short term, but long term behaviour changes which perverts the original purpose (for example benefits have transformed from being a temporary safety-net to a barrier to ambition for many communities who are long-term dependent on benefits).

I'm very much in favour of allowing everyone in society an equal chance in life but socialism in this country has degenerated into corruption.

Hmmm dunno.. I've been thinking about this recently, and come to the broad conclusion that in a world where capital is increasingly mobile, and concentrated in very, very few hands - then true power and influence resides with the owners of that capital. Why would anyone think otherwise?

Our current bunch of British politicians - labour or conservative - just remind me of parasites looking for a host on which to settle.

The current administration is, needless to say, particularly loathsome. I can't think of one member of the front bench who is able to speak with any conviction or humanity about anything. Just a collection of smarmy snake oil salesmen mouthing this week's soundbites and platitudes. It's pathetic. Are these really the best we can find?

Someone (I think it was Harold Wilson) once said "If the Labour Party isn't a crusade, then it's nothing."

As for the Conservatives, they don't exactly fill me with joy either...

Go and wash your mouth out with TCP. And hope that Jacqui Boots hasn't got your IP address.

For the rest . . . spot on.

I implore all of you, my concerned world co-occupants to explore libertarian principles. As I'm not good at articulation of such, I invite you all to explore these ideas. Love, Montauk :)

I'm not a religious man but.......every night I say a little prayer.

"Dear Lord, please see people through these tumultuous times with a minimum of sufferring. Please let tomorrow be the day that someone from the Labour party knocks on my door"

So far the big man has not seen fit to grant me my second request. I can only imagine it is because he realises, in his infinite wisdom, that it s in direct conflict with my first request.
