The end of 2014 saw the collapse of City Link, but the parcels and supply chain world has been busy. TNT which was a big multinational has demerged and sold it's various business units. It's logistics business was sold off and has become CEVA, its universal post division has been demerged as Whisl. Its dutch parent has rebranded as PostNL. TNT Express has kept the name but has been brought by FedEx. A previous offer by UPS was not allowed by the competition authorities but a merger by TNT Express and FedEx is allowed on the grounds that they are not so similar. Many express parcel customers in the UK tend to use TNT Express domestically and FedEx internationally as that where their strengths are. FedEx tried to roll out a UK business back in the 90's but ended up pulling out do to the intense competition and just kept a international hub at Stansted Airport. Things changed for FedEx when they acquired Newcastle under Lyme based ANC Parcels which had a UK wide network. It is expected that the TNT Express brand will survive for a brief time but eventually will rebrand as FedEx. The German owned DHL remains the UK's largest logistics and Supply Chain operator.
