  1. Is anyone else being constantly harrassed by Mann Countrywide estate agents? They seem to call me every other day to ask me if I'm interested in properties, even though I've told them repeatedly that I'm not looking at the moment?
  2. Had a look last week and it seems alright, I saw flats in the Beulah Road area, which seemed okay to me, but which is the best part of Thomton Heath? Also is is safe to walk around at night?
  3. Has anyone purchased their freehold along with the other flat owners in purpose built or conversions? Any experiences (good or bad) and advice will be appreciated
  4. Can anyone give me some advice about Thornton Heath (the South Norwood side). Is it a decent area to live in also is there a high street with some decent shops? Thanks
  5. Are brokers any good in helping with the buying process or do they make no difference at all?
  6. There is a flat I've kept my eye on and I made an initial low offer, but the EA told me there was a cash buyer ready to buy the place and 'turn it around'. It's now been 3 months and the price has been reduced by 5K, I called again last week only to be told the flat has now sold...but on assertahomes, findaproperty etc it is still advertised as being available and not under offer etc....I'm starting to think that the EA is the owner of the flat and is holding out for the highest price he can get...Should I call and be a little more forward in my questions and demand to be put in touch with the

  8. it seems to me that most 'share of freehold' flats are commonhold and a company is set up so everyone knows what's what...having done some research and seeing the amount of ground rent/service charges that some landlords are charging I'm slowly coming round to this idea and it could benefit me in the long term as I've got some equity in the flat already...
  9. EA told me that this is the case, but I'm not convinced...it could end up costing more than a leasehold flat..
  10. I recently put in an offer on a flat (that was instantly rejected) the next day I looked on rightmove and there are two ads from the same agent advertising the same flat but on ad it's £125k the other its 135k ...this must surley be illegal
  11. I'm looking at 3 flats at the moment - in Penge, South Norwood and Upper Norwood. All of these have been on the market for a while and require some work. Everyone say wait for next year, 2 years, 3 years etc but I'm tired of waiting and I have the opportunity to go for it now
  12. I read somewhere that most FTB don't negotiate on asking prices. Does anyone have any any advice on how to negotiate an asking price, or any tricks the EAs may pull...I viewed a property the other day that needed work but the EA told me that the vendor said not to even call with a offer that's not 95%...any constructive advice is welcome...
  13. Does anyone live in South Norwood? How good/bad is it as a place to live? Is Penge or Anerley better? What about Catford? Your comments much appreciated...
  14. ...I'm a FTB and the first thing EAs ask me is how much are you looking to pay/ afford, do you have a deposit, an agreement in principle (if not they have a finance section that can probably offer me a better deal than what I currently have!!!) Do I answer truthfully to all this or exaggerate the amount I can afford or tell them I can afford less than what I actually can?
