  1. I read it in the papers all the time. People confuse the word negative with adverse. Postitive feed back is self reinforcing. Negative feedback is self correcting (sustainable). Either one can be favourable or adverse.
  2. Read to the very end It was autumn, and the Red Indians asked their New Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Red Indian chief in a modern society, he couldn't tell what the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his Tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared. But also being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked 'Is the coming winter going to be cold?' 'It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed,' the weather man Responded. So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood. A week later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Is it going to be a very cold winter?' 'Yes,' the man at National Weather Service again replied, 'It's definitely going to be a very cold winter.' The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find. Two weeks later, he called the National Weather Service again. 'Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?' 'Absolutely,' The Man replied. 'It's going to be one of the coldest winters ever.' 'How can you be so sure?' the Chief asked. The weatherman replied, 'The Red Indians are collecting wood like Crazy.'
  3. I posted this time last year after I accidently opened a letter from my previous landlord only to find that her mortgage was with GMAC and she was paying almost one and half times as much on mortgage repayments than I was in rent. She also had arrears of about £2000 if i remember rightly. She was actually a council tennant and the outstanding mortgage was more than she bought it for!! Needless to say she did not renew my tenancy. Funny thing is... She tried to sell it to me before I moved out and I offered a massively discounted rate. She did not accept (thankfully). I moved into a new place (much nicer) and the old property was on the market for about 3 months and was even reduced to below my offer. She threw the towel on that move as it is now being rented out. I am not sure where she got the cash from. Anyways.. I have turned this new place into a home. I broke the washing machine the other day and my Landlord turns up with a brand new one (god bless him). I asked how things were with him... He has been made redundant! He worked in car sales. ARGHH!! I managed to get a 1 year agreement this time (I wanted a two year deal). So in 6 months time I could be going through all the same hastle i did 6 months ago. I think that in the current climate it is Landlords that should be questioned. What we as tennants need to know is: Income LTV Employment Total debt on empire etc..
  4. Do you believe in evolution as a mechanism of creating intelligent life from atoms? Do you believe God created the laws of physics to stimulate this mechanism?
  5. The truth is none of us actually exist except one. This world is all taking place in your mind. You are the creator. YOU KNOW HOW YOU ARE! As you are the person who is reading this very line. If you think about it carefully. God is the laws of physics, not the ones we understand but the fundamental laws. Our physics laws act on matter but actually matter and the forces are just one fundamental law. WE are all God.
  6. Who created God? If he is real surely he must have a creator? He can't just have evolved, look how he shows signs of intelligent design. Chumps.
  7. Where you watching the real time votes? You have warned me but I am not prepared. Tell me if i need to go to my loal co-op and raid them for canned food and fresh water! It's over
  8. Seriously? Were all doomed. I am starting to see that betting on the end of the world is a lose lose situation.
  9. Looks like they have thrown in the towel. I wonder how the fight for 5,000 will play.
  10. Yep, you baby boomers robbed us. The only chance to save this country now is if you all die at retirement age. Once she has figured out that she is going to have to work 50 hour weeks just to afford the rent to a baby boomer like you. She will kill you with her own bare hands. If my parents sold there house and I thought they were going to blow the proceeds on themselves I would go mad. My dad bought his house for 30k. If he sold it now for 250k, I know at least 100k of that is mine due to the other inflated rent I have been paying and the over inflated mortgage I will have.
  11. Do you know if they are hedging certain events with CDS and instantly realising the abitrage as profit on the assumption that no counterparty will fail? I know they were doing this with monoline insurance. Insuring a security against default and counting the margin as money in the bag. There could definetly be a similar thing going on. Counterparty taking up loads of contracts without large enough capital, brokers taking loads in fees and the hedging party instantly realising profits. Everyones a winner! Which is why everyone can be a loser when it is supposed to be zero sum. Possibly?
  12. All bulls should be hung, i hate happy people. Bah humbug.
  13. I can't believe how many people do not understand weighted averages. I asked my gf who is sat next to me: House went up by 10% in London and down 10% in Yorkshire. She said it must be 0% average. Which is correct given that she did not have all the information however unlike the OP.... blah blah can't be bothered to type anymore.
