  1. https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-m-g-fund/mg-suspends-3-2-billion-uk-property-fund-as-brexit-takes-toll-idUKKBN1Y81ZY?il=0 A real 'Bear Stearns' moment if I ever saw one.
  2. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/nov/06/shopping-centre-firm-intu-considers-cash-call-amid-high-street-crisis Contagion now moving on to the retail investors.
  3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50175587. Supercuts wants landlords to take a haircut on rents. Boom tish.
  4. https://www.cityam.com/links-of-london-collapses-putting-hundreds-of-jobs-at-risk/ Over priced jewellery tat shop gone into Administration.
  5. If it does go under then there's another 470 retail outlets sat empty on the high street. Retail property investors must be sitting on losses soon. Even if PE doesn't go broke then they will be asking for rent reductions. Seems like every way you look retail property is taking a bashing. And yet INTU share price is up 5% today, makes no sense to me.
  6. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/sep/24/northern-irelands-wrightbus-expected-to-go-into-administration Second largest insolvency this week (possibly). Plus it's got Boris's reverse Midas touch all over it. Everything he touches goes to s41t. Still I expect that it will get missed in all the storm over the prorogation.
  7. http://propertyindustryeye.com/auction-entries-rise-as-clobbered-buy-to-let-landlords-look-to-sell-their-properties/ Looks like its starting already.
  8. https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1180760/Brighton-fire-latest-updates-emergency-Pankhurst-Avenue-fire-brigade Only 4,999 to go now .
  9. surely now the LL has to pay tax on the income of £8134 at rate of at least 20% more possibly 40% which would wipe out profits. But they wouldnt need to pay stamp duty every year. Either way its a poor return on 183 grand. can do better elsewhere. without a large capital gain on the house theres no point in investing. and recently there no price gains. a small % drop and they are well into a loss.
  10. www.theguardian.com/business/2019/sep/13/albemarle-bond-pawnbroker-stores-close. Must be flippin bad if the pawnshops are closing down.
  11. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/help-to-buy-loophole-closed-to-benefit-homeowners How about 30 or 35 year HTB mortgages? Seems like mortgage providers have bee lobbying in order to sell a lifetime of debt to people who 'dream' of being debt slaves all their lives. I mean home owners.
  12. https://inews.co.uk/news/new-build-home-front-fell-off-canterbury-kent-persimmon-homes/ Didnt see mention of this in the results. Other homes affected too. You couldnt make it up.
  13. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/news/office-sidesteps-cva-as-dozens-of-store-closures-loom/ar-AAFzmZs?ocid=ientp Overpriced shoe sales fall flat - apparently footfall is down - ? On a lighter note - more empty high street units are available for rent, which will not please commercial investors.
  14. Happening in the US as well. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-49247520 $30m rent up from $16m thats some rise.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48868113 Britains oldest building firm goes bust. They need to get in to the HTB scam instead of refurbs.
  16. You beat me to it. Another 700 empty retail spaces. I keep going on about retail property investors losing their shirts but sooner or later the contagion is going to spread to other areas of property investment - REIT's etc. They could always convert them to residential if they get a change of use from the council, but that is notoriously hard to get. Plus councils will lose out on council tax from a business which is worth more to them than residential.
  17. https://www.property118.com/what-does-shelter-advocate-for-the-older-generation/ Incoherent rant written by Fungus. Not sure what he is getting at, is he worried that he will end up in a retirement village ?
  18. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/jul/01/footwear-chain-office-could-close-stores-as-part-of-restructure More shops to close, more pain for retail estate investors/landlords. All these shops closures have to start hurting at some point. British Land, investment banks, surely nursing losses on all the retail space sitting empty.
  19. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/quinn-radiators-newport-administration-duffryn-16406371 Few hundred more jobs gone in South Wales.
  20. I saw that and thought "Hmm does it have a large bulge in the middle of the house?"
  21. Possibly another 200 stores to be emptied by Boots. I expect that it won't be that high but that this is a ploy by WBA to drive down rent costs. Means less income for mall owners and retail investors, some of which are our pension funds. https://inews.co.uk/news/business/boots-store-closures-200-stores-closed-uk-owner-walgreens-alliances/
  22. Good job then that other people didn't follow suit and start ploughing money in to retail property......oh hang on. https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/one-most-reckless-things-ive-225924 Wonder what the 'value' of the council property is now? Still there's always the taxpayer to pick up the bill. Never trust a Tory.
  23. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48393901 Another chain teetering (not teething) on the precipice.
