  5. If it does go under then there's another 470 retail outlets sat empty on the high street. Retail property investors must be sitting on losses soon. Even if PE doesn't go broke then they will be asking for rent reductions. Seems like every way you look retail property is taking a bashing. And yet INTU share price is up 5% today, makes no sense to me.

  9. surely now the LL has to pay tax on the income of £8134 at rate of at least 20% more possibly 40% which would wipe out profits. But they wouldnt need to pay stamp duty every year. Either way its a poor return on 183 grand. can do better elsewhere. without a large capital gain on the house theres no point in investing. and recently there no price gains. a small % drop and they are well into a loss.

  16. You beat me to it. Another 700 empty retail spaces. I keep going on about retail property investors losing their shirts but sooner or later the contagion is going to spread to other areas of property investment - REIT's etc. They could always convert them to residential if they get a change of use from the council, but that is notoriously hard to get. Plus councils will lose out on council tax from a business which is worth more to them than residential.
