  1. It's normal for them to be above Halifax due to the different geographical base of their branches/customers.
  2. Sorry, I wasn't implying that ZH or MO were tinfoil - far from it. My tinfoil reference was to the thought that the US may have deliberately engineered the Arab uprisings by inflating commodity prices deliberately.
  3. Not directly. The unrest iirc was triggered by rising living costs and unemployment. The rise in (dollar denominated) commodity prices is in response to Bernanke's printing press and the debasement of the dollar. For the most part, Arab currencies are pegged to the dollar so prices rose and their currencies fell. So indirectly, yes they did. By design? I don't know but I am beginning to think that todays tinfoil is tomorrows news.
  4. Looks like things have moved on. It was 5 or 6 years ago that I was playing with it.
  5. In essence, it continues the https tunnel back from the browser, through the pc to your peripherals. Basically, it stops any other process from reading any info you input or receive. It specifically defeats keyloggers and is designed to make your PC secure for internet banking even when riddled with trojans. The software is from Israel. I was involved in the first UK banking implementation of it years ago.
  6. It's not a table. It's a computer desk with a mouse on it.
  7. Very popular road in a very popular area. Right in the centre of the wedge formed by London Road and Welford Road. I don't think the price is badly out of line with the current market. I'd be impressed if you were able to get them to accept much less than £325k (at the moment) which is not to say that you shouldn't try!
  8. Knighton and Stoneygate are amongst the nicest parts of Leicester. Clarendon Park too although it's nostly terraced and tight on parking. You can rent a 3 bed semi for upwards of £600 which is not much more than they were in the mid 90's. Sale prices are a bit stickier than the city as a whole but but seem to have finally turned and are heading down fairly rapidly.
  9. Maybe, but the grannies would still put me off.
  10. It's test data that has been released to live by mistake. (Sh)It happens.
  11. I can't let this hysterical unfact pass. How do you suppose the US could input the target info, manoevre the subs to firing depth, spin up the tubes, open the hatches and initiate the launch? They couldn't.
  12. Petrol degrades via two mechanisms. 1. Evaporation where the more volatile fractions are slowly lost - fuel blended for hot environments is fomulated to have less of these. 2. Chemical degradation where lighter fractions react and combine to produce heavier waxier components. These tend to clog or damage fuel system components over time.
  13. Ditto If you don't fill up very frequently then yes, your (petrol) car will run better on a full tank because the fuel is fresher and therefore less degraded.
  14. I don't see how forms can make any difference at all unless they take so long to fill in that they keep the scutters fully occupied with a biro.
  15. Property Bee tells a different story with price reductions at all levels.
  16. Looks like a bad print. Not showing up elsewhere that I can see.
  17. Sigh. Ken, the Eurofighter Typhoons that are based there on a brand new military airfield only have to fly a few miles to bomb Port Stanley airfield. They might do this for fun after they have eliminated the entire Argentinian airforce I suppose.
  18. Err yes you can. Four typhoons is enough to wipe out most of the Argentinian air force in once engagement if they were daft enough to come in close formation. There are hardened bunkers to house significantly more if the threat gets in any way serious.
  19. It was never clear to me why no other countries helped the UK in that conflict. Especially given the UK was in NATO. They did. The US offered us a full sized carrier and sold us the latest sidewinders for instance. The French stopped the Argies acquiring any more Exocets. Technically, Argentinia was a US 'ally' so it couldn't be too explicit.
  20. Eh? You want to see deflation - I'll give you a hint. Have another think about what this site is about and what is happening. It's a classic Austrian school bust - high order capital goods falling in price, low order goods rising in price. This is overlaid with supply and demand distortions as we move to the new reality and currency driven price changes that are also causing price movements.
  21. Careful where you plant those chokes... They breed like chavs.
  22. I don't think you need very much Kurt. Some may well go up the chimney but the input wood contains enough potassium for that amount of wood to have grown! It may be worth doing some trials if you can be arsed - it's definitely possible to overdo it since all nutrients become poisons in excessive quantities.
