  1. Ha Ha thanks, but yes my girlfriend does have an apalling credit history.
  2. Last night might gf got a call from TML (The Mortgage Lender) Asking her if she had considered a morgage. So these sub primers are now cold calling for business. I think this is very interesting.
  3. Nice overview of the doom http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/hi/...iew/default.stm
  4. True although most of the people on here seem to have better than average wages, due to the fact that we are clever, this is indicated by the fact that we choose not to buy in an overinflated market.
  5. I could afford to buy something much less than what im renting atm.
  6. In 2000, I was 18 and just starting work, I am now 25 and earning the kind of salary that should mean I can buy a fairly nice house, however I can't, Im sorry I didn't buy when I was 18 I know I should have I am a very very bad boy.
  7. I decided about a year ago that I would not buy unless there was a drop, I would like a drop but I dont care if there isnt one. the way I see it is like this: With my current stance of not buying. If im right and there is a correction, I get a house for a reasonable price YAY If im wrong and there is no correction I carry on living in nice rented accomodation with no debt. However if I had bought now or a year ago If Im right and there is no correction prices rise I have a house im in loads of debt and I have a crappy little overpriced house. If im wrong and there is a correction, I am stuck with a crappy little house that is now worth alot less than what I paid for it, and im stuck with loads of debt. I know which scenario I prefer. I am not a gambling man and I am not going to take a punt on mine and my partners lives, what we have done is the safe option.
  8. I think we are going to turn it down tbh, as they want to follow people who are actively looking for a property which is something we are not doing, also my missus is a bit freaked out about the idea of being on tv.
  9. Got a call from her today she is interested in featuring me and the gf on the programme however it sounds to me like they are looking to have a programme where they are showing us how to get on the ladder.
  10. She is going to call me today, ill let you know what comes out of it.
  11. I nearly spat my coffee all over my keyboard when I saw those figures, I have no idea how they could get such high average wages with such low, average FTB mortgages, I mean your average FTB has saved up say 10k for a deposit I don't know about you guys but you can't buy anything for 140k around here.
  12. Live: Canterbury Kent Status: FTB currently renting 2 bed terrace for £520 a month Income: Around £38k £50k with the missus
  13. I was looking at that site and found this article Parents wanting to evict ill son It may just be me but doesnt this just sum up society today, parents abandoning thier children in the pursuit of more cash.
  14. I Live in Canterbury, we being taken over by btler's and commuters from london meaning that the house prices are so far removed from wages it is unbelievable, I think we are fast approaching a brighton level of unaffordability. I would say the average wage here is about 18k not a single friend of mine earns over £25k I am paid way over the local average as I am on £35k However you can get a 1 bed flat in a poor area for 130k but if you are greedy enough to want a 2 bed terrace in an ok area you have to pay £180k+
  15. No idea where they got those figures from. Where I live the average house price is 180k and the average wage only about 20k
  16. I think it will be a crash and this weekend I had a family member agree with me for this first time YAY My uncle is over from the states and came to visit me and the missus for a couple of days, the first thing he asked me was have you bought a house yet I said no his response was Thank god for that the uk is going to make the us crash look small.
  17. I wouldn't be suprised if she has had handouts from mummy and daddy because as the op said she can't have done it on a teachers salary u smug twit.
  18. As A FTB Priced out in Canterbury can you please slap your colleague and tell her it is from one of the people she is denying property. Cheers
  19. I will buy if and when I can buy something similar to what im in for 120k not the 180-190k it is currently valued at
  20. My fiancee also shares my belief that there has to be a crash
  21. I am going to try and get down there although im really short of cash atm, if i don't manage to get down I wish you guys all the best of luck and I will be glued to the tv on sunday.
  22. I agree with the OP however the only service that BTLers provide is making estate agents richer.
  23. My best friend (who I thought was sensible) has just told me how he has got a mortgage offer and he is going to accept it so he can get on the ladder. HERE IS THE FANTASTIC DEAL 3 Years Interest Only £800 a month fixed then another 27 years repayment and at the end of it the bank owns 25% of the house man this crisis is turning once sane people into stark raving maniacs.
  24. http://firstrung.co.uk/articles.asp?pageid...&cat=44-0-0 I saw this on tv they are only going to sell them to first time buyers, this should be followed by the government.
