Mandelson Backs New 'people's Bank' At Post Office
chichi replied to Injin's topic in House prices and the economy
Yup. Trams to Oldham. Originally yes. Then no. Then govt says yes again. Then the joiny up bit is dependent on congestion yes vote which doesn't happen - so the town centree of Oldham is skirted by the tram rather than included. -
Selfish Adults Damage Childhood
chichi replied to ImA20SomethingGetMeOutOfHere's topic in House prices and the economy
It's not news though is it. It's like saying that not teaching manners means children are rude. -
I would have thought the closure of several car plants and factories was a great thing for ensuring power for the rest of us through this cold snap.

Third Of Britons Do Not Have A Savings Account.....
chichi replied to grey shark's topic in House prices and the economy
It's pretty shocking - and needs sorting out. Educating people about saving is a good idea. It horrifies me when people (still) ask about buying a house with no deposit. Why can't they save a deposit? Do they have no savings? What happens is they need some extra cash? Does mr creditcard come out? -
Brown Criticises Wildcat Strikes
chichi replied to ripandcap's topic in House prices and the economy
Maybe the aim is to have every UK person unemployed on the dole and have all the work done by immigrants. All that leisure time - enjoy it! -
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jan/3...er-six-children It did start in America. Only a country that allows a woman with 6 children to have fertility treatment could be responsible for the global mess. OT from HP I know -

Council Rakes In £369,000 Permit Profit
chichi replied to interestrateripoff's topic in House prices and the economy
Well luckily we have some buses and things. You don't need to park one outside your house. -
Would have to appear that way...

Brown Orders Thousands Of New Council Houses
chichi replied to Gremlin's topic in House prices and the economy
If they build high quality low cost houses with gardens and keep rents at the same levels at the council (£75 a week for a 3 bed house with drive and gardens) then that's fine. And as long as they don't build on the remaining playing fields and parks.... OR they could cut out the building and just enforce low rents in the private sector. If a landlord defaults the banks give the house to the council. I can imagine if they do build any it'll all be immigrant labour houses in floating hotels... -
Have The Estate Agents Binned Advertising

Are they all doing lettings now? I think all of ours are -
Alarming number of SSTC on my daily search. Lots of houses at the cheaper end have got cheaper - which is some of the SSTC but also some bigger semis selling... These new builds are quite near me and are on the busy busy road - none sold yet. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sa...yPartRent=false How does the 10 year guarantee work? Does it start when the building was finished? (Earliest rightmove is June 08 but I think they were on before that and have been took off a second time to refresh the prices) Previous new build flats in the area have gone to rent - think they sold one - And the most expensive house was reduced from 550 to 500 and is now disappeared this week. I assume no one wants to pay half a million to live virtually opposite these shiny new builds on the busiest road in the area (excluding the m60 of course) Summary of Properties Sold in OL9 in October 2008 Total properties sold: 29 Average price of properties sold: £117,426 Property Sale Prices by Type in OL9 in October 2008 No. of properties Average* price Median* price Flat 4 £131,125 £112,500 Detached 2 £126,250 £126,250 Semi-detached 8 £122,900 £120,000 Terraced 15 £109,677 £95,000 Summary of Properties Sold in OL9 in October 2007 Total properties sold: 51 Average price of properties sold: £106,999 Property Sale Prices by Type in OL9 in October 2007 No. of properties Average* price Median* price Flat 2 £59,190 £59,190 Detached 3 £131,500 £132,000 Semi-detached 20 £123,937 £126,475 Terraced 26 £94,820 £86,500 Summary of Properties Sold in M40 in October 2008 Total properties sold: 26 Average price of properties sold: £121,223 And nearby Moston Property Sale Prices by Type in M40 in October 2008 No. of properties Average* price Median* price Flat - - Detached 3 £216,967 £208,950 Semi-detached 9 £157,772 £147,500 Terraced 14 £77,211 £74,000 Summary of Properties Sold in M40 in October 2007 Total properties sold: 46 Average price of properties sold: £100,203 Property Sale Prices by Type in M40 in October 2007 No. of properties Average* price Median* price Flat 1 £235,500 £235,500 Detached 1 £172,000 £172,000 Semi-detached 14 £110,279 £109,250 Terraced 30 £88,598 £85,000
