  1. I actually think there will be civil unrest over this if they force people to fit have tracking devices fitted to their vehicles. There is no way on God's own earth that I would allow this, I'd rather not drive. Also, if anyone believes that this won't be used to enforce speeding fines and other 'trackable' motoring offences then they are severely mistaken. If the Tories promised not to introduce this (as they have promised with ID cards) then they would sweep to an election victory.
  2. You don't really understand this Betfair thing do you. The odds you see are what people are asking for, and with such pitifully small sums available the figures can be very misleading. For example,, there is now £2, (yes £2) available to back +0.50%, and only £22 available on the other odds. So if someone wants to have £22 on a + 0.5% rise at odds of 9/1 (10 in decimal odds as displayed) then the appearance will be a massive swing to 100/1 on for that rise.
  3. You might think that, but then you don't see all of the CV's my wife gets sent in her capacity as an employer. It is truly shocking. She reckons that only 1 in 100 CV's from people with 5 GCSE's or better is well presented and gramatically correct.
  4. "I think if halve the mongs who go to uni learnt a trade instead of wasting 25K debt to get a peice of paper then thew country wouldn't be in such a mess." You've hit the nail on the head. Not with your point about university, but by highlighting the fact that children leave school unable to read or write. This forum isn't a spelling test it's true, but if you really believe that the word is 'halve' and not 'half' then I rest my case.
  5. This is a VI obscenity. The idea that prices can be predicted in 2010 is an absolute disgrace.
  6. We own my modest semi outright. I'm 43. We decided to sell a big house last July and get out of the rat race. Life is very easy in a small home, and though we'd like a bit more space, the joy of not having a single penny secured against our home is very sweet. Should there be a big drop in prices, then I'd consider getting a mortgage again. The problem for us is getting our savings keeping up with inflation. We're maxxed out on our NS&I ISA's, and have a bit spread across stocks/shares and some money in gold.
  7. I think he means he is straight but another bloke fancies him.
  8. "The thing in all of this is greed. " I´ve read some good stuff on this site, but that quote just about sums it all up.
  9. Yep. Dumped my house for 360k last May (Bit too soon but I wasn´t far wrong) Bought a semi in a nice part of town for 200k. No mortgage, no credit card debt, 3 rate rises and more to come since I sold, never been happier.
  10. This is big news in my opinion. It does indeed smack of a government terrified that the masses will find out the true infaltion rate. It will be rigged of course.
  11. If you lot could spell it would add a certain amount of credibility to your arguments. At the moment, it's hard to believe that a man who cannot spell 'sources' is likely to be an authority on anything discussed here.
