  1. You forgot to add cost of keeping the wife happy(stopping her nagging). In rented, = £infinate, in your own home £0.
  2. often the styling of japanese cars is just badly coppied successful european cars. the front of this looks like a Lexus, only worse
  3. By the look of it, the garden shown does not even belong to the house. You only get a roof terrace.
  4. With the way the dollar is going lately, you could soon be right.
  5. So if they are doing it for northern rock, they should do it for every other business... A friend has a fruit and veg shop. If he has a lot of left over produce on saturday that will spoil before he opens again on monday which no one wants to buy it now, will the BOE lend him money secured against his stock (which is still prime produce as it is not out of date till monday) on the basis that he has no cash to buy new stock and will probably go bust on monday if they dont. Seems only fair to me
  6. That is really unworkable. He would also have to put parking restrictions on all the streets within walking distance of the supermarket. Also what happens if the supermarket is next door to another large store. Will the whole retail complex have pay and display parking? The administration and management of the scheme would be far more wasteful than just letting people drive there. Still I suppose it would help with unemployment as a whole army of people would be needed to set up/ run the scheme. Anyway, I thought most supermarket car parks were on private land, owned by the supermarket. That would really be setting a precident, the govt making money from and dictating what happens on private property. A while ago, I really thought that Cameron may turn out to be a genuine alternative to GB, but it seems that every time he opens his mouth, he just makes himself out to be more of a clueless idiot than ever.
  7. Bucharest, Romania is very similar to Poland in terms of the property market, with all the factors described here coming into play in the same way. One point that you have missed is the fact that Bucharest's population is increasing massively as a lot of people from smaller towns/ villages try to move to the capital to take advantage of higher wages etc. While speculation definately does exist in a big way, there is definately a big shortage of properties and that is pushing prices up. I expect Poland is the same.
  8. I thought that was wales. No wait - they do something else with their sheep. The biggest industry in NZ is now fliecing stupid brits who think that NZ is paradise. It takes them a year or two and all their money to realise that it is not.
  9. looks similar to my house. Its very nice and spacious inside. I just try not to spend too much time on the front lawn looking at it. Head down and walk quickly from the car to the door.
  10. 3. Is an investor clueless twit with too much borrowed money who was taken for a ride by the salesman when he bought and is now passing bricks out his back passage daily as reality has sunk in.
  11. You are still better off than me. I transfered my kiwi $ over here for my house deposit at 2.82 - 1 a few months ago
  12. How did you figure that one as they don't exist anymore.
  13. Visit My Website From NZ, but coming to a country near you soon. Consumer spending will be suffering very shortly, then job losses, followed by reposessions everywhere. Economist Brian Easton said 11.2 per cent of all households were in mortgage stress in June this year, up from just 3.7 per cent in 2004. It is defined as spending more than 40 per cent of take-home pay on the mortgage.
  14. The only person making a loss will be the shop keeper who sells you the food. If you actually want to annoy them, collect a few more late payment charges, then ask for them back and take them to court if possible as well.
  15. Dixon Motors - one of the UK's biggest car dealerships - is to close more than half of its network of franchises with the loss of 800 jobs.
  16. anyone know how much the average salary will rise by today?
  17. Just seen a house identical to mine, in the same street come on the market at £229K. It is a faled BTL getting out. He bought it for £157K 1.5 years ago and renovated to luxuary BTL (cheapest laminate you can find + magnolia paint) standard, tried to let it and eventually did but at a very reduced rent on what he initially wanted. I think he still has tennants in it though. Now he is trying his luck at selling, which I will follow with interest as I am not really sure how accurate the EA valuation was. I would give it £190K max. I bought mine for £165K in feb. Mine was in better condition than his, but I still have a lot of renovation to do. I expected mine to drop a bit over the next few years, but looks like the oposite has happened. Now, I know I am a genius and savvy businessman but please don't all rush to congratulate me at once for pulling off this highly lucritive deal.
  18. You have obviously never had any. They are extremely expensive, unless you can manage to get the government to pay for everything.
  19. So that means all the kids of families on benefits who do not work, live in council houses and have plenty of time to spend at home should be well adjusted, caring and hard working descent members of society? The worst kids are usually the ones whoes parents are at home (or in the pub) all the time, not those whoes parents are working.
  20. Invest in something that gives a better return than the bank (not housing).
  21. Hang up usually works. I wouldn't waste any breath talking to them. You have an account manager I bet you feel big and important now. Is that their new way to make suckers feel special?
  22. Don't know about data, but my boss is currently financing R&D projects by MEWing against the value of the building that the business owns. If it wasnt for the fact that he bought the building very cheaply 12 years ago, the business would have gone under by now. I am sure a lot of small/ medium size business are the same.
  23. Can anyone tell me what actually happens when you can no longer afford to pay your mortgage. Obviously, i know at the end of the day you lose your house, but how long does the process take ?Do the banks give you a period of grace (e.g. 6 months) if you have recently lost your jobs say? -Depends if they think they can screw more money out of you later. i.e intrest/ fees keeps adding up while you get a job, but if they cant see that then they will reposess. What happens to your posessions, -You should give them away/ sell them before the baliffs arive. and what if you cant afford to rent? I assume most would go back to family, but i cant believe you would just be kicked out onto the street! -Believe it. It is exactly what happens. How quickly can the banks sell your property? Usually they don't allow more than 3 months arrears before reposession.
  24. Not really. A 3 bed semi should be around that size. My house is 125m2.
  25. After building the houses, you should sell all the properties at cost to local FTB's who are currently priced out.
