  5. Bank of Ireland has announced losses of almost 1bn euros (£895m) for the six months to the end of September. The bank has said that the total value of loans that it thinks might not be repaid will be 6.9bn euros (£6.1bn) for the period to April 2011. http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/8341796.stm
  6. Maybe they are keeping it afloat as they dont want to scare the sheeple with another Northern Rock bank failure. If RBs went under I think people would really start to panic.

  10. i was walking past there the other day, made me think as I thought it would be open now. Castle Point has not managed to fill the vacant spots either. My gage to the reccesion being over is when the Woolwich shops get re let with anything other than £ shops. We went down to the Reef Sunday morning as the clocks had gone back but no one told my kids, So by half 8 we were all up dressed and down at the pier. Anyway wind bowing a bit, felt like 5 or 6 SSW which is the normal direction, waves very short and sharp. They may have built up by the end of the day but the worrying thing was the reef was flat. All the surfers were using the break off the pier with the reef flating out the waves, which is the opposite effect of what is required.
  11. have you got a link for a studio sub 65K
  12. Im not surprised have you seen how many empty shops there are in Pokesdown throught to Boscombe, These are the kind of places I would like to move into. As a mortgage broker I just want to stay solvent, I am rushed off my feet with enquiries my phone bill is out the roof. Lenders are not lending its very tough unless you are a home owner with lots of equity, provable incoem and a fantastic credit score. Most people can only tick 2 out of 3 boxes so no business.
  13. It was in the business section of the Sunday paper and as a lot dont post Sunday it may have been missed, at the time of reading i thought this was a big story. Well we can now and tell everyone how smart we are as we have shorted HBoS.
  14. Bournemouths a great place to live an bring up kids. The Crime rate is low Here is the bournemouth thread Some people say its a bit dull and it can be, but a lot of people miss the point. Poole has the second biggest natural harbour in the world after Sydney so move down get your self a boat and get sailing. We can get our tub to Cherbourg in 11 hours fill up the bilges with food and wine at the Big Carrefour right next to the harbour. if you go on neeps you can do more of a straight line, but with spring tides you tend to go from side to side which is no fun in the shipping lanes. also Jurasic coast line down the road, so get out your mountain bikes ( we both have Kona's) for a hack over Old Harry Rocks and look back at Bournemouth bay and 10 miles of golden sand, no pebles, rocks, just pure sand. Or stick the bikes on the car and head out into the New Forset lots of good treks, or walking if your a rambler. House prices may seem cheaper, but you need to look at local wages. Bournemouth to London is almost 2hrs by train so not much commuting but some do it. Its not what is in Bournemouth more about what is around the edges. If you can find it, its glorious. Nothing like a cool glass of wine sat on your boat with a fishing rod, stick on a chill out CD light up the huricane lamp and cook up some roast chick, with roasted med veg glug of extra virgin. Yeah Bournemouths rubbish, Brighton is much bettter
  15. Halifax estate agents sold for £1 Halifax for sale sign There are 218 Halifax estate agency offices Lloyds Banking Group has agreed to sell its Halifax estate agency business to LSL Property Services for £1, and said 460 jobs would go. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8310072.stm
